Project Engineer

We are seeking a Project Engineer to support commercial electrical construction projects within a self-perform electrical contractor environment focused on healthcare and institutional work.
This is a hands-on role working directly with Project Managers to drive project execution, coordination, and documentation across active job sites. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone with commercial electrical experience looking to grow into a Project Manager role over time.
Responsibilities
- Support Project Managers across the full project lifecycle (preconstruction through closeout)
- Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
- Coordinate with field teams, electricians, and foremen to align plans with execution
- Interface with general contractors, inspectors, and vendors
- Review and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
- Assist with takeoffs, scope reviews, and project setup alongside estimating teams
- Collaborate with BIM teams to resolve design conflicts and support field-ready plans
- Track project schedules, materials, and procurement
- Maintain accurate records in project management and ERP systems
Requirements
- 2–5+ years of experience in commercial electrical construction (Project Engineer, APM, or similar)
- Background with an electrical contractor (required)
- Experience supporting project coordination (RFIs, submittals, schedules, field communication)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and construction documents
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, Accubid, or similar tools (preferred)
- Strong interest in growing into a Project Manager role
- Hands-on involvement in project execution and coordination
- Must have commercial electrical experience (residential-only or GC-only backgrounds will not be considered)
