Role Overview:
The Project Cost Controller is responsible for supporting project financial management through accurate cost tracking, reporting, forecasting, and analysis. This role works closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and stakeholders to ensure projects are executed within budget and align with financial objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control project costs, including actuals, commitments, and forecasts, ensuring alignment with budgets and contractual requirements.
  • Analyze cost variances, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain project financial reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for internal and stakeholder reporting.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to define budgets for deliverables, track expenditures, and forecast project completion costs.
  • Ensure invoices are reviewed, coded, and processed correctly; follow up on payment processes and maintain financial documentation.
  • Update and maintain project cost files and SAP records, ensuring accurate financial tracking.
  • Support change management by evaluating cost and schedule impacts of project changes, preparing recommendations for approval.
  • Assist in resource planning and project hours tracking to align financial and operational planning.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, schedule optimization, and improved financial efficiency.
  • Timely identification and reporting of financial risks and deviations from the approved project plan.
  • Support procurement processes by providing cost analysis and tracking expenditures related to equipment and materials.
  • Actively communicate financial status, risks, and forecasts to Project Managers, project teams, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong experience in project cost control, reporting, and financial analysis within mining, energy, or industrial projects.
  • Proficient in SAP or other ERP systems, Excel, and project management tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
