We are looking for someone who has experience in developing and delivering computing education programmes in South Africa, with an understanding of how to integrate programmes into education systems. You’ll be a skilled project manager who can lead the end-to-end delivery of multi-stakeholder projects with a diverse range of stakeholders including NGOs, community and volunteer-led organisations, and government.

You’ll understand how to support implementing partners to deliver programme outcomes, and will be a great partnership manager, with experience of creating and steering learning communities of partners. You’ll also have an agile attitude to work and be ready to propose and try new approaches, and evaluate and iterate.

We strive to make the Foundation a place where talented people who care about our mission can do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you’re the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you’ll be working with an exceptional team.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end programme and partnership management of assigned partners, supporting effective delivery and building partner capacity to deliver high-quality learning experiences for young people and educators.
  • Collaborate with the Foundation's Impact team to improve and implement partner Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), using the results to identify and drive improvement and ensure outcomes are consistently achieved.
  • Report on progress across the partnership and programme lifecycle, using data driven insights to identify and action opportunities, challenges and risks and making renewal recommendations.
  • Identify partnerships and collaborations to facilitate growth and adoption of the Foundation’s programmes in South Africa, including actively growing non-partner supported Code Clubs and schools that use the computing curriculum.
  • Manage the grant management and partner qualification process from initial partner prospecting to award of the grant.
  • Build the volunteer, educator, and partner communities, facilitating connections and opportunities to learn from each other.
  • Collaborate with Raspberry Pi Foundation teams to improve the onboarding experience, user journey, tools and processes to support partners.
  • Enhance the visibility of the impact we have created with our partners by contributing content for our newsletters, social and digital media channels, and interacting on our Slack channel.
  • Build the Raspberry Pi Foundation's network and brand presence in South Africa, independently and in collaboration with our partners, representing the Foundation at local events where appropriate.

Experience And Personal Attributes

We recognise that everyone has the potential for growth and development. We expect post holders to have most, but not necessarily all of the following experience and personal attributes:

  • Experience in end-to-end education programme and project management, with a focus on computing education. This includes collaboration across organisations, managing multiple strands of work, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent partnership management and communication skills with the ability to deliver programmes through partners. Experience of communicating effectively with a range of organisation types from government to NGOs. You should feel comfortable presenting to different audiences and be able to write clearly.
  • Grant management experience including suggesting eligibility requirements, the application, screening, and contracting process, and grant reporting mechanisms.
  • A track record of implementing strategies to scale volunteer-led, community, or government programmes in educational settings with a focus on South Africa.
  • Experience of facilitating high-quality training, coaching, and peer support sessions, ideally for educators and partner organisations.
  • Good data and analytical skills, and the ability to use data to improve what we do.
  • Willingness to travel within South Africa occasionally, with overnight stays when necessary, as well as potential travel to the UK.

About us

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is an independent charity with a global mission to enable all young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies.

We empower schools to teach computer science and AI literacy through free curricula, classroom resources, purpose built software tools, and professional development for teachers. We inspire young people to become tech creators through the world's largest networks of coding clubs. We undertake original research that informs our work and which we use to advance the field of computer science education more broadly.

All of our resources and learning experiences are available for anyone to use at no cost. We are particularly focused on creating opportunities for young people who experience educational disadvantage and those who come from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in technology industries.

Over the past decade, we have supported hundreds of thousands of educators and tens of millions of students. We have teams in six countries (India, Ireland, Kenya, South Africa, the UK and US) and partnerships with mission-aligned non-profit organisations in over 60 countries.

We are at the forefront of the global educational movement to expand access to computer science education and AI literacy. You can learn more about our work in our latest Annual Report.
