We’re looking for an AML Program Manager to support our anti-money laundering

(AML) and sanctions compliance program. In this role, you’ll be responsible for finding

gaps and opportunities for improvement in our AML Program, and you’ll work with

product, engineering, and data science teams to build platforms, models, and

automations to support it. You will be reporting to the Chief Anti-Money Laundering

Officer on Wealthsimple’s Regulatory team.

Support Wealthsimple’s Enterprise AML Program by:

Program Management & Framework Oversight:

  • Maintain Oversight of the framework and manage policy, monitor

effectiveness, and report on the health of the program.

  • Conduct Quality Control and Program Effectiveness Testing, which

includes the Internal Audit Function.

  • Identify opportunities for and execute operational improvements.

  • Manage Audit Management and Enterprise Risk Assessment.

Policy and Standards Development:

  • Define the rules and standards to ensure compliance with the law.

  • Drive Policy Updates and Procedural Updates.

  • Program oversight to address system tuning, rule adjustments, and audit preparation.

Technology and Tooling Management:

  • Overseeing the AML enablement function, embedding within AML and risk teams to understand vision, roadmaps, and progress that aligns with AML Policies

  • Owning the road map for AML vendor software, leading AML program transformations and the operational aspects of those engagements, working directly with our AML tooling vendors

  • Manage AML Tooling Implementation, including workflow building.

  • Oversee New AML Tooling Procurement, including identifying and evaluating potential AI Solutions.

  • Manage the ongoing relationship with AML Tooling Vendors.

Product Integration and Risk:

  • Working with product, design, engineering, and regulatory teams to:

    • Understand regulatory requirements and infrastructure or data gaps for new interfaces, products, and services

    • Ensure coverage as we build and improve on products and features

    • Prioritize and plan for improvements and remediation where opportunities exist

  • Drive Product Enablement by serving as the AML Subject Matter Expert

  • (SME) Stakeholder for new product/service initiatives.

  • Conduct Product Risk Assessments.

Must have skills:

  • 5+ years of experience implementing and managing AML programs, projects, systems, or products.

  • Strong familiarity with Canadian AML legislation and regulations

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

  • Strong analytical, research, and investigative skills

  • Ability to understand and distill complex content into a clear and concise narrative and communicate it with audiences at all levels

  • Appropriately assess risk/reward relationships when making decisions

  • Ability to take ownership and lead projects with a proactive (reactive, when

  • appropriate) approach and able to independently drive initiatives to conclusions

  • Ability to perform well in a high pressure, time-sensitive environment

  • Effective leadership qualities and motivated self-starterNice to have:

Nice to have skills:

  • Experience working in cross functional teams, especially between compliance, product, and developers

  • Experience in implementing compliance software and tooling

  • Knowledge of FINTRAC rules for securities dealers and money services businesses, including MSB activities related to dealing in virtual currencies
