The Mission of the Production Reliability Engineer

This role is responsible for assuring the reliability and quality of ICEYE’s subassembly production line, ensuring that assemblies meet design intent, space-grade quality requirements, and operational standards. The Production Reliability Engineer works closely with AIT engineering, production technicians, and integration teams to prevent quality escapes, ensure proper operator self-verification, define optimized inspection strategies, and drive proactive improvements through risk-based quality assurance methods.

The position reports to the Mission Assurance & Reliability Team and serves as the quality assurance representative embedded in the subassembly production line. It plays a key role in maintaining product reliability, manufacturability, and compliance with space standards by implementing preventive quality practices, monitoring key metrics, and fostering a culture of quality ownership at the production level.

Who We Are

ICEYE delivers space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities to governments and allied nations. This includes sovereign and turnkey ISR missions leveraging ICEYE’s world-leading synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology, as well as access to data from the world’s largest SAR satellite constellation. These capabilities enable partners to detect and respond to critical changes anywhere on Earth with unprecedented speed and accuracy – day or night and in any weather, supported by ultra high-resolution imagery and high-frequency revisits.

As a trusted partner for defense, intelligence, security, and maritime domain awareness, ICEYE’s near real-time data creates a tactical advantage for mission-critical operations. Designed for dual use, the platform also serves civil protection and commercial users for natural-catastrophe intelligence, insurance, maritime monitoring (including oil-spill detection), and finance, contributing to global security and community resilience.

ICEYE operates internationally with offices in Finland, Poland, Spain, Japan, the UAE, Greece, and the US. The company has more than 900 employees, inspired by the shared vision of improving life on Earth by becoming the global source of truth in Earth Observation.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Oversee subassembly production operations, ensuring all outcomes meet established requirements and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain inspection plans, checklists, and quality documentation in close coordination with Design and Process Engineering.
  • Monitor and validate operator self-verifications and in-process checks, ensuring compliance with defined inspection procedures and standards.
  • Provide training and guidance to production technicians on inspection criteria, ESD and FOD control, cleanliness, and proper handling of EEE components.
  • Lead and support PFMEAs and risk analyses for subassembly processes to proactively identify and mitigate quality risks.
  • Support and participate in non-conformance investigations and contribute to effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure that verification activities and production readiness checks are properly completed before production starts, and that open non-conformances are resolved.
  • Monitor production and quality metrics, including yields, process capability, and rework trends, to identify early warning signals.
  • Oversee adherence to material handling and equipment calibration standards (including ESD, cleanliness, and FOD controls).
  • Drive and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives with AIT Engineering and Production teams.
