Job Summary:
The Production Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC machine programs used in the manufacturing of server racks, cabinets, and other data centre infrastructure products. This role ensures that fabrication processes—such as laser cutting, punching, bending, and welding—run efficiently, accurately, and in line with design specifications and production schedules.
The Production Programmer works closely with design engineers, production supervisors, and operators to translate technical drawings into precise machine programs and continuously improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and material utilization.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop, maintain and optimise CNC programs for fiber laser cutting, turret punching, bending and other fabrication equipment.
· Interpret engineering drawings, #D models, and BOMs to generate accurate and optimised programs.
· Prepare setup sheets, nesting layouts, and work instructions for production teams.
· Optimize material usage and machine cycle times through efficient nesting and tool path strategies.
· Coordinate with production, maintenance and engineering to ensure programs are compatible with available tools and machine capacities.
· Troubleshoot and revise programs as needed to resolve production issues or improve output quality
· Maintain, update and manage programming database and program revision control proactively.
· Support new product introduction from time to time, by developing prototype programs and validating manufacturability.
· Collaborate with quality assurance to ensure compliance with product specifications and tolerances.
· Provide technical training and guidance to operators on machine setup and program execution.
· Continuously identify opportunities for automation and process improvement in programming and production, proactively.
· Any other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time.
Preferred Skills (Optional):
· Familiarity with ERP system and digital manufacturing data.
· Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement data.
· Familiarity with AP100, Cypcut and equivalent programming software.
· Basic knowledge of 3D CAD modelling.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Diploma/Degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering or related field.
· Minimum 2-5 years of experience in CNC programming, preferably in sheet metal fabrication.
· Strong knowledge of CNC machines (eg. Amada, Trumpf, or equivalent)
· Proficiency with CAM software (eg. AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor)
· Familiarity with G-code and NC programming standards.
· Understanding of fabrication processes such laser cutting, punching, bending, welding and powder coating.
· Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
· Good communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight production timelines.
