Production Manager (Hamar Automation)

The Department Manager for Hamar Automation will be responsible for the overall operation of the department in terms of production, quality, cost, delivery, safety, and personnel management. They will collaborate with other department managers and key stakeholders including purchasing, sales, engineering, and process control to improve efficiencies, reduce waste, and drive overall output to achieve company objectives. The right applicant will  utilizes coaching and motivating techniques to maintain high team morale

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Consistently promotes high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards, values, and behaviors expected of them.
  • Effectively communicates goals, objectives, and guidelines both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborates with support functions to progress issues concerning production planning and resource/skill allocation to ensure delivery of products to schedule within all relevant quality specifications.
  • Communicates with team via daily huddles and visual boards with focus on production goals, on-time shipments, cost, quality, and safety. 
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating, directing, and monitoring employees on the proper use of equipment, resources, and compliance with established policies and procedures including the proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment). 
  • Identifies, follows up and resolves safety concerns. Investigates workplace accidents. Completes and submits incident occurrence report within required time frame. 
  • Interfaces with Production Scheduling to determine schedules for shift production. 
  • Provides feedback to upper management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process/procedure improvements to optimize results. 
  • Utilizes coaching and motivation techniques to maintain high team morale.
  • Manages employee performance including attendance. Records employee performance/attendance concerns in HRIS system (Paycor).
  • Routinely rounds on employees to ensure productivity is at established levels.
  • Provides regular operational status updates to one-up supervisor via reports, formal and informal conversations. 
  • Performs other duties as requested.

This position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 6 am – 5:00 pm.  Based on the Department's work production schedule this job may be required to work on Fridays.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, vocational technical school.  3 years of production exposure.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
