Position Summary
As a Machine Operator on Tovala’s food production team, you will play a key role in our food preparation and packing operations. This includes portioning and packaging food products using the appropriate machinery for each item, calibrating and loading film as needed, and ensuring proper machine sealing while consistently inspecting product quality. Machine Operators are also responsible for completing portioning verification forms and maintaining accurate daily production counts.
You will clean and sanitize machines during project changeovers and at the end of each shift. Additionally, you may assist with prepping, packaging inventory, and supporting the packing line as needed to assemble meals for shipment to customers.

How you'll spend your time at Tovala
Food preparation and packing operations.
Packaging food products using various machines for specific processes. Some machines require changing film and making different setups throughout the day, depending on particular products and projects.
Ensuring the machine is sealing product properly and inspecting product for quality. Expected to make necessary adjustments to the machine to ensure the product is sealing correctly.
Responsible for completing the portioning verification form and maintaining a daily count of completed products.
Cleaning and sanitizing machines when changing projects and at the end of the day.
Prepping packaging inventory and performing duties on the packing line to assemble meals for shipment to customers.
Once trained, responsible for training new operators and providing ongoing training for existing operators.
Assisting operators as problems arise and expected to know and correct basic operating issues across all equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
Standing and/or walking for 8+ hours per day in a cold environment (39°F).
Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling up to 50 pounds frequently.
Use of hands and fingers for fine manipulation.
Adequate vision for machine operation and food handling.
Adequate hearing for working around machinery.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment for food safety.
Competencies
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to weigh, measure, and portion food.
Basic arithmetic skills.
Ability to understand and make necessary equipment adjustments—knowing the “why” and “when” (training provided).
Understanding of equipment safety (e-stops, door switches, etc.).

Able to direct team members at the assigned machine to ensure efficiency and food safety.
Able to keep up with project timelines and production counts.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous food or other manufacturing experience preferred
