The Production Engineer will lead the engineering and quality agenda with the overall goal to improve the customer satisfaction. The Production Engineer is the main contact towards the suppliers and works as part of the Business Team together with the Supplier to develop and secure the production process, handling of quality deviations and secure compliance to all IKEA requirements.

 

  • Lead the Supplier Development for quality and manufacturing with responsibility to identify and implement actions and execution of the projects 
  • Lead implementation of new products at suppliers 
  • Secure supplier & product quality/safety compliance  
  • Collaborate with global teams within quality matrix to develop safety and quality policies and performance 
  • Leading the continuous improvements agenda from a quality & production efficiency perspective striving for cost out 
  • Must be willing to actively search for information and continuously learn from good examples and mistakes.  
  • Have the interest and drive to build trust and partnership to reach common goals. 
  • Are results oriented and self-driven in ways of working to deliver better products for the many people by working together in IKEA and with suppliers. 
  • Build and maintain business relations, have excellent communication skills, be a good team player, be persistent and live our IKEA values.  
  • Travel required - 50%  
  • A background in engineering, quality and product/production development 
  • Solid knowledge of production processes and technologies, 
  • Solid experience in manufacturing industry, experience in certification and testing globally would be preferred 
  • Good knowledge and proven capabilities in Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools
  • Preferably having an engineering education and at least 3 years working experience 
  • Strong communicative skills and speak fluent English in complicated environment with multiple stakeholders, and able to handle conflicts 
  • Proven experience in supplier management & project management 
  • Proactive approach 
  • Chemical knowledge will be an advantage
