See more about our culture on https://mistral.ai/careers.     Role Summary   We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to support Mistral AI’s compliance and regulatory efforts by being the product, engineering and public affairs teams' closest partner and advisor.   Play a pivotal role in shaping AI compliance, tackle cutting-edge regulations, influence the future of AI, and collaborate directly with our engineering, science, public affairs and product teams at the heart of a rapidly evolving industry.   The legal team currently comprises 24 persons across Paris, Singapore and Palo Alto, covering a spectrum of competences across regulatory, IP, contracts and corporate.     Key responsibilities   Collaborate with cross-functional teams in close partnership with engineering, science and product teams to ensure legal and regulatory compliance in the development and deployment of AI technologies.  Collaborate with the public affairs teams on regulatory efforts.  Stay updated on the latest AI-related legal and regulatory developments, and provide practical guidance to the organization on potential risks, solutions and opportunities. Provide training and support to the business on legal and compliance matters related to AI. Help drafting terms and other contractual materials, or negotiate contracts with upstream partners or suppliers, including but not limited to AI-related service agreements. Support team on other legal topics as needed.   Qualifications and skills   • Background : Master degree in law, a bar admission is a plus, as well as an experience in a fast-growing environment • Experience: 5 years of experience in a law firm or in a tech company, in IT law  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence: An understanding of artificial intelligence technologies and their applications is essential • Solution oriented approach: The ideal candidate should be able to identify compliance issues and develop effective strategies to address and resolve them. They should be capable of implementing practical solutions • Project management: The candidate has good project management skills • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex legal and technical issues related to AI and to identify potential legal risks and solutions is important. Candidates should be detail-oriented and have strong problem-solving skills • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication; Strong ability to present complex legal concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Business oriented • International mindset: An international experience is a plus • Adaptability: Given the rapidly evolving nature of AI technologies and the legal landscape surrounding them, candidates should be adaptable and willing to continuously learn and update their skills and knowledge. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
