Title : Product Owner with P&C Insurance domain & Claims Exp
Location: Erie, PA or Piscataway, NJ – Onsite from Day 1
Duration: Long Term
Responsibilities:
- Own and maintain the claims product backlog, ensuring items are well-defined, prioritized, and ready for engineering execution
- Gather and refine requirements through stakeholder interviews, claims flow analysis, and hands-on review of operational scenarios
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Commercial Lines product Claims initiatives.
- Understands and communicates the product vision, roadmap, and priorities for Commercial Lines products in alignment with the Product Manager and business stakeholders.
- Define user stories, acceptance criteria, and edge cases that reflect real claims behavior, not happy paths
- Collaborate with engineering on solution design, tradeoffs, and sequencing
- Participating in SDLC activities including backlog grooming, sprint planning, UAT coordination, and release validation
- Ensure claims functionality aligns with SLAs, regulatory requirements, and internal governance standards
- Clearly communicate roadmap progress, risks, and outcomes to internal stakeholders
- Cultivates a product mindset, ensuring team-level understanding and alignment with product strategy throughout development and innovation activities, navigating ambiguity, and embracing change.
- Owns, manages, and regularly prioritizes the user story backlog. Refines features and user stories in collaboration with the Business Analyst.
- Leads demonstration of business value and guides teams through agile ceremonies, program planning, defect remediation, and continuous improvement activities.
- Proactively manages team-level dependencies, adapting delivery plans and communicating impacts as appropriate.
- Collaboratively manages measurement and tracking of outcomes and status reporting at the team level.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience working on claims systems (P&C insurance,)
- Strong understanding of claims
- Comfort working with data (SQL or analytics tools) to validate assumptions and outcomes
- Experience with Bureau reporting and statistical reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for explaining complex workflows clearly
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and frameworks (Scrum, SAFe).
- Strong understanding of Claims workflow within P&C insurance specially Commercial Lines
- Proficiency with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence).
- General understanding of software development principles to effectively communicate with the development team and understand their challenges.
Preferred certifications
- CSPO, SAFE POPM
- Any P&C insurance certification and/or claims
