Product Owner - Palantir Foundry

Berthoud , United States

AI overview

Drive the development of Palantir Foundry based data visibility tooling, enhancing business intelligence through effective collaboration between engineering and manufacturing teams.

The future of aerospace and defense starts here.

Ursa Major was founded to revolutionize how America and its allies access and apply high-performance propulsion, from hypersonics to solid rocket motors, satellite maneuvering and launch. We design and deliver propulsion and defense systems that solve the most urgent and critical national security demands.

At Ursa Major, the journey to space starts with the engines. Behind every engine is the data and software that powers smarter decisions and continuous improvement. We're growing our internal software capabilities to accelerate how we design, build, and test rocket engines, to fly faster.

We're looking for a Product Owner to drive the development and evolution of in-house, Palantir Foundry based data visibility tooling. This role sits at the intersection of software support systems, and manufacturing and engineering teams. The role will be working with internal stakeholders to understand their data intelligence needs and translate those needs into actionable requirements for software engineers. This role will ensure that Ursa Major is creating business intelligence out of the data that our software systems capture.

Responsibilities

  • Create, articulate, and own the product vision and associated roadmap for Palantir Foundry based solutions and other internal tooling.
  • Own the product identity, ensuring new feature requests are in alignment with the agreed upon product vision.
  • Develop and maintain a well-defined backlog aligned with company priorities, regularly groomed and prioritized based on ROI.
  • Act as the primary interface between data engineers, developers, manufacturing stakeholders, and other internal teams.
  • Translate stakeholder needs into clear feature definitions with actionable user stories and detailed acceptance criteria.
  • Drive alignment across stakeholders, and identify miscommunication early and facilitate clarity.
  • Set and track success metrics and product outcomes; avoid bloated feature creep by maintaining clear product identity.
  • Facilitate daily stand ups, sprint planning sessions, retrospectives, stakeholder demos, and other agile ceremonies. We are agile-based, paying close attention to what works best for the teams.
  • Set sprint goals and define sprint backlog with engineering team. Identify dependencies, anticipate roadblocks and help mitigate risks.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Scrum Master, or related role
  • Background in software development, data engineering, or manufacturing systems
  • Demonstrated success in delivering software/data products that solve complex business problems
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven ability to follow and adhere to internal processes and procedures
  • Passion for building clear, coherent product visions and keeping products focused and valuable
  • CSPO, PSPO, or similar certification
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Desired Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong preference for hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry
  • Familiarity with ISA-95 as a design pattern that software systems must slot into
  • Experience working with data platforms and manufacturing systems
  • Experience working with manufacturing data, test data, or other physical systems data in a production context
  • Experience leading customization of software systems
  • Experience with software best practices
