Own product marketing for Claude's core consumer experience, driving acquisition and co-owning brand expression through strategic storytelling and partnerships.
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
We're looking for a Product Marketing Manager, Consumer to make Claude the preferred AI for individual users. You'll own product marketing for Claude's core consumer experience and serve as the primary marketing partner to our consumer product team. This role sits at the intersection of product, growth, and brand: you'll shape how individual users discover, try, and fall in love with Claude through compelling positioning, sharp launches, and consumer-grade storytelling. You'll partner closely with our consumer growth team to drive acquisition and activation, and co-own Claude's consumer brand expression with our brand team. If you're a consumer marketer who wants to define how a generation adopts AI in their daily lives, this is the role.
Own product marketing for our chat surface — positioning, messaging, launches, and lifecycle for Claude's core consumer experience across web and mobile
Serve as the primary marketing partner to the consumer product team, embedded in product planning and roadmap discussions
Partner with the consumer growth team on acquisition and activation strategies, ensuring marketing and growth efforts are aligned and compounding
Co-own consumer brand expression with the brand team — shape how Claude shows up for individual users across all touchpoints
Lead GTM for major consumer launches — new features, plan changes, and product moments — coordinating across product, growth, brand, comms, and social
Develop and maintain consumer positioning and messaging that differentiates Claude for individual users in a crowded market
Build deep understanding of consumer segments and user motivations through research, data, and direct user engagement
Define and track consumer marketing KPIs in partnership with growth
Have 7+ years of product marketing experience working for technology startups, with significant time on consumer products (applications, software, platforms) used by millions of individuals
Have driven measurable growth in user acquisition, activation, or retention through marketing
Are a strong writer who can craft compelling positioning, messaging, and copy — not just strategy decks
Have experience partnering closely with product and growth teams on launches and experiments
Know how to work with brand and creative teams to develop consumer-facing campaigns that are both on-brand and effective
Are comfortable with data and metrics — you can hold your own in a conversation about funnels, experimentation, and growth levers
Thrive in fast-moving environments where the playbook hasn't been written yet
Experience marketing a product during a category-defining moment — when the market was still being shaped
Background working with subscription or freemium business models
Experience with mobile product marketing
Familiarity with AI products, though deep consumer marketing instinct matters more than AI expertise
A portfolio that demonstrates both strategic thinking and hands-on execution
Role-specific policy: For this role, we expect all staff to be able to work from our San Francisco at least 2 days a week, though we encourage you to apply even if you might need some flexibility for an interim period of time for relocation.
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.
Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues.
