Product Manager

TLDR

Lead the development of a platform that integrates quality management and transparency in lab testing for consumer brands, transforming workflows and enhancing customer trust.

Product Manager

About our hiring partner

Our hiring partner is building the modern platform for lab testing, starting with consumer goods brands. They help companies test more cheaply, quickly, and enable them to use lab results to automate regulatory compliance and grow revenue.

Most supplement and food brands want to be transparent about what's in their products, but testing is expensive and the data lives in PDFs that are impossible to share with customers. They're fixing that. Improving our food system starts with increasing transparency and creating a more informed customer. Not only are they building a lab that makes testing faster, cheaper, and easier, but also the infrastructure that allows brands to:

- Market and highlight their lab results by making it easy to push lab data directly to product display pages. Here, brands will highlight what's in their product (active ingredients + they meet their claims) and what's not in their product (heavy metals, environmental toxins, PFAs, etc)

- Automatically comply with regulations like Prop 65, CA AB 899, Amazon testing requirements, etc.

By integrating the full experience – from testing to the data sharing with customers – they're building a more efficient and streamlined process. Brands can now differentiate themselves and become the no-brainer choice in their category through testing and great transparency.

They're a team of experienced founders that have raised $12M from top VCs (8VC and Valor). Our hiring partner is growing rapidly and at a $5M+ run rate within 12 months of launching to customers.

Role Overview

Our hiring partner is hiring a Product Manager to scale the platform that powers quality and transparency across the food system.

They are used by leading consumer brands like Momentous and David Protein, along with some of the largest manufacturers in the US. The decisions you make will shape how these customers run quality workflows at scale—from managing risk to meeting regulatory requirements.

Testing sits at the core of how brands and manufacturers operate. It determines whether issues are caught early, whether products meet regulatory standards, and whether teams can move with confidence. Our hiring partner provides the software layer that brings these workflows into a single, reliable system, turning fragmented lab outputs into something teams can use.

As Product Manager, you'll own how this platform evolves. You'll decide where to invest, what to ship, and how the product compounds over time, balancing immediate customer pain with long-term platform leverage. Your work directly affects how proactively customers manage quality issues and how effectively they use verified data to compete on trust.

This is a hands-on role for a product builder who wants real ownership, close proximity to customers and founders, and responsibility for scaling software that sits at the core of how modern consumer brands operate.

Responsibilities

1) Build the platform that defines how quality is managed. Own the product that determines how products are tested, how quality decisions are made, and how transparency reaches the market. What you build directly affects how brands operate day to day, and ultimately influences what millions of consumers eat and rely on. You'll turn lab testing from fragmented PDFs and spreadsheets into a coherent software platform customers rely on as their system of record for quality.

2) Turn lab data into real business leverage. Lab data is the fundamental unit of quality information. You'll find new ways to use it to solve real customer problems, enabling customers to move from reactive quality management to proactive decision-making, get ahead of issues before they occur, and use verified data to drive transparency and confidence in the market. This includes building new software capabilities that customers are willing to pay for and that grow our hiring partner's revenue.

3) Modernize a category that still runs on manual workflows. Partner with some of the most sophisticated brands and manufacturers in the space—including customers like AG1, Momentous, and David Protein—to replace spreadsheets, PDFs, and email chains with modern software. The market lacks purpose-built tools, and you'll build products that save customers meaningful time and effort while making it a no-brainer to run testing, compliance, and transparency workflows with our hiring partner.

4) Own product direction, execution, and craft. Set product direction and prioritization with the founders, making hard trade-offs about what to build, when, and why. You'll take ideas from problem definition through specs, execution, launch, and iteration, getting into edge cases, QA'ing releases, and obsessing over the last 10% that makes workflows fast, intuitive, and trustworthy. This is a single-threaded ownership role: you're accountable for what ships and how it performs in the real world.

5) Stay deeply connected to customers and shape what we build. Work directly with sales and customers to understand how the product is used in practice. Visit manufacturing facilities, observe real workflows, and turn feedback into clear product priorities. You'll translate customer pain into focused product direction and shipped outcomes that actually move the needle.

Requirements

Must-have

- 3+ years of product management experience shipping B2B software (workflow-heavy products a strong plus).

- Strong technical fluency: comfortable discussing data models, APIs/integrations, and system trade-offs; able to go deep with engineers (and ideally write lightweight code when helpful).

- High-ownership, high-velocity operator: you can take ambiguous problems and turn them into shipped outcomes.

- Strong product craft: you care about UX details, edge cases, and reliability—especially in operational software customers depend on.

- Excellent communicator: clear writing, crisp thinking, and strong customer-facing presence.

- Bias for action: you move fast with imperfect information and iterate quickly.

Nice-to-have

- Experience in compliance, lab testing, manufacturing, supply chain, or other regulated/operational domains.

- Experience building data-heavy products, analytics/insights, or AI-assisted workflows.

- Strong design instincts (bonus if you're comfortable mocking in Figma).

Values We're Looking For

We believe that how we work is just as important as what we achieve. Our hiring partner's culture is built on principles that drive high performance:

First Principles

We're looking for team members who can deal with ambiguity, deconstruct problems, and build the optimal solution.

Question every requirement → Delete any part or process you can → Simplify and optimize → Accelerate cycle time → Automate.

Standard of Excellence

High standards are contagious. A+ talent attracts A+ talent.

There's a glut of mediocrity in the world. We're chasing after the products and people that strive for excellence.

Bias for Action

Take initiative, make decisions quickly, and have a willingness to experiment and learn from failures

Customer expectations are not static. They rise over time, which means we have to continuously improve every single day

Low Ego

Coachability; it's not about being right, it's about getting to the right answer.

Reacts calmly to criticism or negative feedback, and has a "feedback is an opportunity for information and improvement" mindset

Respectfully challenges decisions when you disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable. Once a decision is made, even if you still disagree, commit wholly and move forward.
