About the role: 

The Product Lead is responsible for developing new products and services, managing and optimizing the existing product portfolio, and driving innovation in integrated energy solutions in the Dutch market. This role focuses on creating products that maximize customer satisfaction. The Product Lead works closely with various disciplines within the development team in the Netherlands and across Sunrock to ensure successful product development and continuous improvement. It is a hands-on role with a practical mentality—going the extra mile to make things happen. The Product Lead builds bridges between departments, brings people together, and inspires teams to turn ideas into reality.

Your responsibilities:

• Explore Market Opportunities: Together with the Business and Project Development team, identify and connect market trends, regulatory changes, and customer needs to determine opportunities (in line with the existing market strategy) for new products. Review and optimize the existing product portfolio to maintain a competitive edge.

• Lead Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and test new products or services, ensuring their validation in real client projects.

• Work closely with clients, suppliers & partners, negotiate and sign contracts, make proposals with Business Development.

• Work out and validate the technical, legal, commercial and financial product elements, together with the relevant stakeholders to ensure all areas are covered and products are robust.

• Partner with product marketing to develop and implement strategies for product launches, ensuring coordination for successful market entry and growth.

• Build Business Models: Together with the commercial and project finance team, create business models that support the products under development meeting set risk return profile.

• Standardize and Scale: Create standardized models, templates, and processes to drive operational efficiency and support scaling validated products to market. Also align with other markets (Germany, France) to effectively leverage existing approaches. 

• Own and optimize the Product Portfolio: Oversee the current product lineup, developing roadmaps and optimizing offerings based on changing dynamics and customer needs. Lead strategic product presentations and discussions with the executive team to ensure alignment and secure approval for product initiatives.

• Innovation: Foster a culture of innovation within the team, encouraging new ideas and agile methodologies.

Requirements

What you bring to the table

• Experience: 5-10 years of experience in product development, combining hardware, software and services, preferably in the renewable energy sector.

• Language skills: Fluent in English and Dutch at B2/C1 level to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

• Education: Master’s degree in technical engineering or a business/strategy specialization is preferred.

• Product Management Skills: Proven experience in product management, including roadmap creation, stakeholder management, and agile methodologies.

• Renewable Skills: Strong renewable background with knowledge of solar energy systems, energy storage solutions, and utility grid interconnection standards is a must. Ability to dive into technical details and ensure comprehensive coverage of all product areas.

• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish connections and a common language between the different disciplines as well as effectively collaborate with stakeholders, team members and executive team.

• Adaptability: Ability to work in a company new to product management, providing guidance, showing perseverance, and establishing best practices.
