Product Designer

AI overview

Join a small, ambitious Product Design team at Copper to shape the institutional digital asset industry through user-centered design and innovative product features.

Since being founded in 2018, Copper has been building the standard for institutional digital asset infrastructure with a focus on custody, collateral management, and prime services.

Led by Amar Kuchinad, Copper's Global CEO, the firm provides a comprehensive suite of custody, trading and settlement solutions that reduce counterparty risk and bring greater capital and operational efficiency to digital asset markets. At the heart of Copper's offering is Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology – the gold standard in secure custody. Copper’s multi-award winning custody system is unique in that it can be connected to centralised exchanges, DeFi applications and even staking pools without the assets leaving the custody.

Built on top of this state-of-the-art custody, ClearLoop is the first solution in the market that overcomes a growing industry challenge; counterparty risk with exchanges. This solution underpins a full prime services offering, connecting global exchanges, and enabling customers to trade and settle directly from the safety of their MPC-secured wallets. By reducing settlement time for transfers to a few milliseconds (without blockchain network dependency) and offering enhanced security measures, ClearLoop is rapidly reshaping the way asset managers trade and manage capital.

In addition to industry-leading security certifications, Copper has one of the strongest insurance coverages in the industry from an A+ rated insurer, positioning the firm as the partner of choice for institutions seeking to safeguard their assets.

Department/Team Purpose:

With a set of market leading products in custody, settlement, clearing, liquidity access, and our position as a leading infrastructure provider in the industry, Copper is well placed to become a pillar of future digital and tokenised assets industry.  Although the product suite is established, evolving regulatory requirements and market practices demand continuous refinement, modernisation, and innovation of our solutions.

The Product Design team is small, highly ambitious, and plays a pivotal role within Copper’s Product organisation. Design is a critical function that shapes the user experience and drives business success. You’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact from day one, influencing both our products and the effectiveness of the team.

Role Purpose:

We are looking for a talented Product Designer to help us set the institutional standard for the digital asset industry.

This is a role for someone who gets excited about turning ambiguity into clarity. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other functions to ship features and products that matter—balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business impact.

You will be supported from day one by a great team, so you are able to hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design end-to-end experiences for new and existing products. You'll take ownership of the full design process—from early prototypes and user flows to high-fidelity designs ready for development.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally. Partner with product managers to define problems, work alongside engineers to ensure feasibility and quality.
  • Think in systems. Contribute to our design system and create scalable patterns that work across platforms. Your designs should feel cohesive, consistent, and intentional.
  • Champion the user. Run discovery sessions, analyse user feedback, and use data to inform design decisions. You'll become an expert on our users' workflows and pain points.
  • Push the craft forward. Willing to go beyond delivery, not satisfied with the status quo and always thinking of ways to improve.

Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • 4-6 years of product design experience. You've shipped features or products that solves real user problems, ideally in complex domains like fintech, SaaS, or technical workflows.
  • Strong portfolio. We want to see work that demonstrates your ability to solve real problems, not just make things look pretty. Show us your process—your use of personas/user data, the messy exploration, the iterations, the final execution.
  • Visual and interaction design skills. You have a sharp eye for composition, typography, iconography and layout. You know when to create the right type of interaction to guide users and when (not) to use animations in a meaningful way.
  • Systems thinking. You understand how individual features connect to our wider suite of products.
  • Design tool expertise. You know your tools inside out. We use Figma for our designs and component library.
  • Clear communication. You can articulate design decisions to engineers, stakeholders, and users You're comfortable presenting work, soliciting feedback, and building consensus.
  • Self-sufficiency and ownership. You manage your time well, prioritise effectively, and know when to ask for help. You're proactive about identifying problems and driving solutions.
  • Curiosity and adaptability. You're excited to learn about new domains, whether that's blockchain technology, institutional finance, or emerging design tools and practices. You thrive in environments that evolve quickly.

Desirable

  • Experience designing for crypto, fintech, or financial services
  • Familiarity with design systems, component libraries and design tokens
  • Experience designing for iOS
  • Experience with user research and usability testing
  • Experience in designing accessible experiences
