Product Designer (Contractor)

TLDR

Shape product direction and improve design processes using AI tools within a rapidly evolving, collaborative, and feedback-driven culture.

About the Role

Hauler Hero is revolutionizing the waste and recycling industry, helping hauling companies maximize operational efficiency while improving the daily lives of the people doing the work.

We’re looking for a Product Designer who thrives on challenge, moves fast, and is excited about what AI means for design. You’ll shape product direction alongside a small, tight-knit design team and cross-functional partners, turning ambiguity into clarity and shipping early and often.

We’re a Series A company with strong organic growth, a user-driven roadmap, and a senior team focused on finding the right answer. Our design culture is rooted in high standards, direct feedback, and building what’s right for the customer.

This is a full-time contract role (LATAM).

What Makes This Role Different

AI is part of how we design and build, not a bullet point. Figma is our core tool, supported by a design system we continuously evolve. Our team uses tools like Claude, Cursor, and Figma MCPs to accelerate how we move from idea to shipped product.

Design cycles are compressed. What used to take weeks now happens in days or hours. The expectation is that you can carry the thinking while executing, even without formal phases like wireframing or structured discovery.

What You'll Do

  • Design end-to-end product experiences across CRM, Customer Portal, and Mobile

  • Use AI tools daily to accelerate design and prototyping

  • Own and evolve the design system, improving consistency and quality

  • Engage directly with customers through interviews, demos, and research

  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions

  • Move quickly between discovery and execution

  • Turn ambiguous problems into clear, actionable solutions

  • Contribute to design quality and team culture

What You Bring

Required

  • 3+ years of product design experience in SaaS (B2B or B2C)

  • Experience using AI tools in your workflow or strong willingness to adopt them quickly

  • Strong Figma skills (auto-layout, variants, variables, design tokens)

  • Understanding of AI integrations or ability to ramp quickly

  • Working knowledge of front-end constraints (HTML, CSS, React)

  • Systems thinking with strong attention to detail

  • Ownership mindset and ability to operate independently

  • Comfortable with direct feedback and iteration

  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing

  • Strong async communication skills

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills (you’ll collaborate closely with a US-based team)

Nice to Have

  • Experience in logistics, field service, or waste industry

  • Experience building or scaling design systems

  • Familiarity with Redux, RTKQ, or modern React patterns

  • Experience designing data-heavy or operational dashboards

How We Work

  • AI is part of the workflow, but thinking and craft come first

  • Lean and collaborative environment with fast feedback loops

  • Direct, candid feedback across teams

Interview Process

  1. Portfolio & Culture Screen

  2. AI Design Assignment (process-focused, screen recordings encouraged)

  3. Leadership Review

What We Offer

  • Competitive contractor compensation

  • Remote, async-friendly environment

  • High ownership and fast product impact
