Your Role
Product Designer Managers, will manage a team of designers and guide them towards the vision of the product. A major part of your day will go deep-diving into requests from your product and engineering counterparts. You’ll help the team prioritize work and run design sprints or workshops. You’ll be the point of contact for internal stakeholders and will keep them informed on the progress and deadlines. Performance, process, and quality of design deliverables will be your major areas of focus.
A Day in the life
Managing a team of designers:
- Help the team groom and execute designs while adhering to the design guidelines to maintain consistency.
- Provide regular coaching and feedback to direct reports to help them grow functional skills and leadership capability.
- Foresee capacity issues and work with the business to plan and set expectations and track key metrics to meet goals. Participate in recruiting efforts.
- Communicate your team's goals and seek opportunities to collaborate with other teams working on related projects.
- Create an inspiring work environment. Actively bring out the best in designers helping both designers and team dynamics evolve.
Driving the product in the right direction:
- Lead the vision for your product alongside your product and engineering counterparts, while also defining how all of Innovaccer’s products work together.
- Contribute to your team's roadmap and goals by providing input from a user's perspective, and ensure that they're pursuing achievable, measurable, and impactful goals.
- Be a consistent user advocate as you make informed, data-backed design recommendations for superior interactions
- Partner with Customer Innovation, Marketing, and Product teams to evangelize user goals.
Improving and operationalizing design processes:
- Manage end-to-end team operations, handle design processes and related tools proactively engage managers and stakeholders.
- Identify improvements to processes and contribute to the root cause analysis with a focus on reducing rework and improving the quality of designs being delivered.
- Have a data-driven approach towards operational goals and key metrics for the organization.
- Give strong design direction to other designers on the team, encouraging creative use of the design process and principles to produce designs.
What You Need
- 8+ years of industry experience in software product design.
- Bachelor's degree in design, computer science, or a related field with
- at least 5 years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or a similar role.
- at least 3 years of experience managing a team of visual and UX designers.
- Master’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), computer science, or a related field with
- at least 4 years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or a similar role.
- at least 1 year of experience managing a team of visual and UX designers.
- Appetite for analyzing metrics, and building models around data to provide solutions and/or improve processes.
- Ability to work in a team, communicate deadlines and deliver as promised
- Expertise in design process/principles and applying those principles together
- Proficient in Figma, Miro, or similar design tools.
- Ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and take a stand for user experience.
- Create an inspiring work environment. Actively bring out the best in designers helping both designers and team dynamics evolve.
- Basic understanding of software development processes, and agile methods to foster better designer and developer collaboration.
