Your Role
We’re looking for a Product Design Manager to lead the design of elite sports products at Hudl. You’ll shape tools that help organizations work smarter across video analysis, performance and recruiting. As part of the Elite UX Strategy team, you’ll help us move from product-centric tools to unified experience pillars while championing high-quality, accessible and consistent design.
As the head of design for Elite North American sports, you’ll own the experience, vision and quality outcomes while helping Hudl evolve toward a seamless, integrated platform.
In this role, you’ll:
-
Be a coach. You’ll manage and professionally develop a small team of exceptional designers working in the same space. You’ll mentor them on both soft and hard skills, helping them develop and achieve their career goals.
- Focus on the customer. You’ll lead with a user-centered mindset, translating research and data into actionable insights that reduce friction and time-to-value for elite users.
- Be a visual and verbal storyteller. You’ll communicate design vision and decisions clearly, connecting user needs to business outcomes and aligning partners across Product and Engineering.
- Add clarity to ambiguous problem spaces. You’ll guide teams through complex, multi-product workflows by asking the right questions and balancing simplification with elite-level customization.
- Collaborate across disciplines. By forming close partnerships with counterparts in Engineering, Product, Scrum and Quality, you’ll help define requirements and deliver clear and focused digital user experiences.
- Design process, quality and delivery. You’ll advocate for accessibility and design excellence, all while shepherding your project to release. After delivering on-time solutions, you’ll measure and own how well they address design and product needs.
For this role, we're currently considering candidates who live within a commuting distance of our offices in London. But with our flexible work policy, there aren't any current requirements for the number of days you come to the office.
Must-Haves
- Management track record. You’ve led at least one designer as a direct report and have experience developing talent.
- Strong communicator. You thrive in a collaborative environment and can confidently sell ideas based on solid rationale and objectives from cross-functional teams.
- Systems mindset. You have a platform-first approach with experience driving consistency through design systems.
- A problem-solver. You have the ability to think critically and holistically about user interactions to provide innovative solutions that factor in technical, business and design constraints.
- Technical proficiency. You’re proficient with modern component-based design software like Figma and use tools like Miro to drive alignment with stakeholders.
- Iterative prototyping skills. You’re proficient at using low- and high-fidelity prototyping tools and wireframing techniques based on the needs of the project.
- A robust portfolio. You can showcase a variety of projects that demonstrate your expertise in UX design, including user flows, wireframes, prototypes and final design solutions.
Nice-to-Haves
- Research and insights experience. You’ve planned and conducted qualitative and quantitative user research and know how to translate insights into actionable outcomes.
- A sports enthusiast. You understand the unique challenges and opportunities within the sports technology industry.
- Experience with complex systems. You’ve designed complex enterprise or expert systems and understand multi-product or cross-platform design.
- Growth mindset. You’re committed to staying up-to-date with emerging technologies—like AI-enhanced product features—and design best practices.
Our Role
-
Champion work-life harmony. We’ll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time above any required statutory leave, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
-
Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
-
Encourage career growth. We’re lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We’ll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
-
Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you’re at the office or working remotely, we’ll provide you the tech you need to do your best work.
-
Support your wellbeing. Depending on location, we offer medical and retirement benefits for employees—but no matter where you’re located, we have resources like our Employee Assistance Program and employee resource groups to support your mental health.
