Data Scientist - Consumer Product Optimization

Location: New York City, London (Office)

Compensation: $250K - $300K

We are seeking an experienced, versatile Data Scientist to join our team, which is focused on a fast-paced consumer-facing product within the fintech or equivalent industry. This is a high-autonomy role where you will have the freedom to identify opportunities, design and implement solutions, and measure their impact across our entire product suite.

We value generalists who possess breadth across the data science field and thrive on end-to-end ownership. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams while driving projects independently from conception to completion.

The Data Scientist will be responsible for leveraging data to drive product decisions, optimize user experiences, and uncover strategic opportunities for growth.

  • Experimentation (A/B Testing): Design, run, and meticulously analyze A/B tests to optimize our consumer product experience and key conversion funnels.
  • Opportunity Identification: Proactively identify critical problems and strategic opportunities through deep-dive data analysis and exploratory research.
  • Monitoring & Visualization: Build and maintain dashboards to track key performance metrics (KPIs) and visualize insights for quick comprehension by stakeholders.
  • Modeling: Develop statistical and predictive models to understand complex user behavior, predict outcomes, and segment the user base.
  • Implementation: Collaborate effectively with product management and engineering teams to implement data-driven solutions and ensure tracking accuracy.
  • Project Ownership: Drive projects independently from problem identification through solution design, implementation, and impact measurement.
  • Communication: Communicate complex analytical findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders (including executive leadership).
  • Best Practices: Help establish company-wide data best practices, methodologies, and frameworks for experimentation and analysis.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2-3+ years of data science experience at a high-growth startup, scale-up, or equivalent (FAANG/Fintech).
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert proficiency with Python/R and SQL/BigQuery for data manipulation, analysis, and modeling.
  • A/B Testing: Strong, demonstrable experience designing, running, and analyzing statistically robust A/B tests on consumer-facing products.
  • Autonomy: Proven ability to work autonomously, managing entire data science projects from ideation to implementation with minimal supervision.
  • Impact Translation: Demonstrated experience translating complex data insights into clear, actionable business and product recommendations.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate and present complex findings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Mindset: Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable taking initiative to find and solve high-value problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cryptocurrency and blockchain data.
  • Strong data visualization skills (especially using tools like Grafana).
  • Experience working with event tracking data (especially FullStory or equivalent product analytics tools).
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical methods and causal inference techniques.
  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines (especially with Dataform or similar tools).
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning methods and their practical applications.
  • Prior experience in consumer tech products or fintech.

Benefits

  • Flexibility: Flexible work arrangements, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
  • Health: Comprehensive health benefits.
  • Development: Dedicated professional development budget for continuous learning.
  • Culture: Collaborative, fast-paced environment with opportunity to shape the future of a cutting-edge product/industry.
