About Us:
Ground News is a platform that makes it easy to compare news sources, read between the lines of media bias, and break free from algorithms.
In a world where political polarization and media distrust are at an all-time high, Ground News offers people a better way to stay informed and see every side of the story. Our mobile app, web app, and browser extension are home to a community of mindful readers who use our news comparison platform to engage with news beyond their filter bubble.
Unlike most news companies, our values do not align with any specific political ideology. Unlike most tech platforms, we don’t rely on algorithms to keep users on our platform to sell more ads. We are supported by our readers who pay for a subscription to build a more nuanced understanding of the news, the world, and themselves.

The Opportunity: Product Analytics Lead
This role is joining Ground News at a pivotal stage of growth.
As our product and subscriber base continue to grow, the complexity and impact of our decisions are increasing. Product Analytics is becoming a core lever in how we prioritize what we build, how we measure success, and how we ensure our growth aligns with our mission to reduce polarization and help people see every side of the story.
The Product Analytics team is responsible for building the data foundation that supports product decision-making, experimentation, reporting, and machine-learning initiatives across Ground News. As a Product Analytics Lead, you’ll help shape this foundation, defining metrics, data models, and analytical standards that will scale with the company.
This is both a hands-on and high-ownership role. You’ll transform raw product data into a trusted analytics layer that informs roadmap decisions, validates product bets, and helps us understand how our unique features change the way people consume and engage with news.
You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, and other business leaders to design data models, audit logging schemas, and experimentation frameworks. The systems and metrics you build now will become the backbone of how Ground News measures impact and success while staying true to our mission.
What You’ll Do:
Conduct exploratory, open-ended analyses to answer high-impact questions central to Ground News’ product strategy.
Analyze and model the impact of product decisions in ways that are easy to interpret, share, and act on, prioritizing clarity over unnecessary complexity.
Define, develop, and evolve standardized product and business metrics to understand user behavior, engagement, and subscription performance.
Develop scalable data models that efficiently answer product questions and user behaviour.
Create intuitive dashboards and visualizations that surface meaningful product insights.
Lead the design, launch, and analysis of experiments across the product ecosystem.
Monitor topline product and business trends to inform roadmap planning and prioritization.
Champion a documentation-first data culture to ensure shared understanding and long-term scalability.
What You’ll Have:
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience in product analytics, data science, analytics, management consulting, or related fields.
Strong experience with Data Transformation Tool (DBT), LookML, and modern BI tools (Looker, Metabase, Superset, etc.).
Advanced SQL skills and experience working with cloud-based data warehouses.
Familiarity with AWS environment and orchestration tools such as Dagster.
A proven ability to translate complex analyses into clear, actionable insights for product and business stakeholders.
High standards for data quality, metric integrity, and analytical rigor.
Fluency with intermediate statistical analysis to inform decisions with directional accuracy.
Strong communication, documentation, and data visualization skills.
Bonus Points:
Passion for news, media literacy, or experience working with content-driven products.
Experience with digital subscriptions, mobile apps, or in-app purchase businesses.
Experience with orchestration tools like Dagster
Exposure to experimentation frameworks or applied machine-learning techniques
