What We Offer

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, the Procurement Specialists own and influence the cost, sourcing, and trade partner strategy for low-rise communities across Ottawa. This role directly impacts project margins and delivery by ensuring competitive pricing, strong trade relationships, and alignment across Construction, Sales, and Design. You’ll contribute to the successful delivery of homes by balancing cost, quality, and schedule while upholding company standards and best practices.
 

What You’ll Own

  • Cost & Estimating:
    • Lead quantity take-offs and cost builds for new communities
    • Analyze trade pricing and identify cost saving opportunities
  • Trade & Procurement Strategy:
    • Support tendering, bid analysis and trade partner selection.
    • Build strong relationships with internal departments, trade and suppliers.
  • Product & Design Alignment:
    • Ensure consistency across architecture, sales and design offerings.
    • Partner with Design Studio to evolve offerings and manage changes.
  • Systems & Execution:
    • Maintain accurate costing and procurement data in JDE.
    • Issue and manage purchase orders aligned to build schedules.

What you bring

  • College Diploma in Estimating program, Architectural Technology, Construction Project Management, Business Administration and/or relevant related practical experience.
  • Fully conversant with the Ontario Building Code.
  • Experience with reading/checking Architectural, Structural, Mechanical & Electrical drawings.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude required along with a systems logic orientation.
  • Self-motivated, prioritizes tasks and works independently with minimum supervision.
  • Strong analytical ability required to accurately compare trade price quotations.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel). Competent in Bluebeam & AutoCAD.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze budgets and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.

 

Bonus points

  • Experience in the residential construction industry, including experience gained through education cooperative program placements.
  • Experience in estimating residential construction.
  • Previous experience in JD Edwards.

 

Compensation:

The expected base salary range for this position is $57,500 - $87,500. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside this range, and we encourage all interested candidates to apply.  You are also eligible to participate in Mattamy’s annual bonus program which gives you the opportunity to increase your total compensation if business and individual goals are achieved.
