Position Overview
The Process/Lab Technician’s role is to assist Process Engineers in the execution and analysis of 3D Printed builds and perform maintenance in support of tool operation within the overall scope of the process engineering function at the company. In this role, you will learn all about the operation and maintenance of 3D printers. The primary function of this position is to operate 3D printers and supporting tools following detailed procedures and safety guidelines.
Essential Job Functions
Follow procedures to operate 3D Printers in our lab with attention to detail
Monitor additive material levels and replace materials when needed
Remove completed metal parts from machine after 3D printing completed
Preventive maintenance of supportive tools
Perform basic part finishing with grinding and band saw equipment
Follow procedures to perform basic metrology on the parts after printing
Initiate and participate in process improvement activities as approved and directed by supervisor
Participate in team and other assigned meetings
Other duties as needed or required
Qualifications
2 years of directly applicable experience operating machines in a lab or manufacturing environment
Professional working experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or research and development environment.
Experience as a machinist is desired
Good mechanical aptitude (basic machine operations, monitoring, debugging)
Good computer skills to enter data and record information
Demonstrated experience following established safety rules and regulations
Committed to quality, safety and communication
Understanding of production procedures
Aptitude to follow process instructions
Willing to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
Attention to detail
Ability to maintain a safe and clean work space
Team-oriented and self-directed
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing laboratory during swing shift
Work is onsite at Velo3D’s facility in Fremont, California
Daily onsite shift is: Wednesday to Saturday 6am to 4:30pm
Able to lift a maximum of 60 pounds and stand for extended periods
Must wear steel-toed boots
Must wear protective eye-wear
May require hearing protection
High frequency of computer keyboarding
High frequency of viewing a computer monitor
Other personal protective equipment as applicable

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base hourly rate for this full-time position is between $29.00 and $35.00. This hourly rate range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this position in the U.S. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as work experience, job-related skills, related education, work location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. In addition to a competitive base salary and a comprehensive benefits package, this position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and equity program, as applicable.
