Process Engineer / Technologist

Xometry has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer / Technologist (Sales/Solutions/DFM Engineer).

The Sales Engineer serves as trusted advisors to prospects and customers by leveraging their technical expertise and business acumen to propose relevant solutions to real business problems. The Sales Engineer works in tandem with the Sales team to sell to our manufacturing processes across business units and markets in North America. The  Sales Engineer anticipates and overcomes technical objections to grow and accelerate sales opportunities and provide the right solution to our customers.

 Functional responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings with high accuracy.
  • Participate directly in the technological processes of manufacturing various components and assemblies.
  • Design tooling for machine tools, as well as tooling for assembly and welding processes.
  • Work with various manufacturing technologies, including laser/waterjet cutting, turning, milling, grinding, EDM processing, and sheet metal operations.
  • Evaluate labor intensity for component manufacturing.
  • Use CAM software (SOLIDWORKS, Fusion 360, CypCut preferred) to prepare CNC programs
  • Interact with customers and manage outsourced part orders
  • Support Sales and to conduct discovery meetings to uncover business and technical requirements that map to Xometry solutions
  • Answer our customer’s technical questions relating to DFx (Manufacturing, Assembly, Cost Reduction, etc.) and relating to Xometry’s manufacturing capabilities
  • Consult with prospects and customers to identify appropriate applications of Xometry technology to define a business case and solution
  • Demonstrate Xometry capabilities, including Xometry software quoting platform
  • Support internal product, sales and engineering teams by driving feedback and content for marketing collateral through case studies
  • Support marketing efforts by serving as an industry thought leader at events and webinars

 Requirements for applicants

We are looking for you if you have:

  • Engineering degree (preferably Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering)
  • Advanced skills in reading and interpreting engineering drawings (required level: expert)
  • Solid experience with various manufacturing technologies and processes (required level: expert)
  • Knowledge of coatings and heat treatments (intermediate level)
  • Experience designing tooling for machining, assembly, and welding processes (intermediate level)
  • Proficiency with CAM software (SOLIDWORKS, Fusion 360, CypCut or similar, training possible) (intermediate level)
  • English proficiency level B2-C1 (excellent written and verbal communication skills, including mastery in English - mandatory)

Your Background: 

  • Just as comfortable in deep technical discussions with engineers and manufacturing professionals as they are presenting to varied audiences, including executives
  • Consultative, making sure to ask questions to understand the why
  • Experienced at preparing technical solutions for business proposals
  • Demonstrated project management and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in some of the following areas: Manufacturing, new product development, materials,  CNC Machining, Additive Manufacturing, Injection Molding + more
  • Experience interacting with customers and independently ordering outsourced components
  • Experience interacting directly with customers.
