Process Engineer

AI overview

Lead process optimization experiments using statistical methods and Six Sigma DMAIC, while developing manufacturing best practices and guiding engineering teams toward efficient assembly processes.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Lead and execute experiments to identify key process variables using DOE type methodologies or other analytical methods.
  • Develop standard manufacturing best practices, parameters, process windows, and work instructions that improve the Samtec assembly process.
  • Use Six Sigma DMAIC process to determine root cause/solutions to process challenges.
  • Use statistical methods to conduct process capability studies to determine if process is meeting key process requirements.
  • Development process criteria to determine if raw cable design/process changes are ready for full volume production.
  • Provide general guidance, direction, and support to other engineering and operations teams that improves the assembly process.
  • Collect and interpret data from other technical and operating staff involved.
  • Perform engineering calculations applying the principles of physics and mathematics for process or equipment, including conceptual, scheme, and detail design.
  • Provide technical inputs for incident investigation considering an integral perspective (manpower, method, machines, materials, and measurement), documenting problem, root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Develop/research new manufacturing methods that help advance the assembly process long -term.
  •  Become a technical expert for processes and equipment in order to be key contributor during design reviews and prototype/development phases of new products.
  • Responsible for programming, creating and documenting a process with procedures for automated and non-automated equipment sets.
  • Responsible for material tracking and data compilation of assembly processes for alpha and beta product builds.
  • Guides, manages, and provides feedback on tooling required for new products and processes.
  • Participates and drives FMEA and PFMEAs where applicable.
