PRN Nurse Practitioner

This person would make 5-10 every two weeks, so, approx. 5 hours a week. As long as patients or families are OK, we are open to you working whenever (after hours, weekends, etc.). This person would support the entire service area (60 miles around Warrenton, VA). This is a perfect side hustle if you like to educate, care planning, and if you don’t have experience in hospice, the ability to gain experience in a impactful and meaningful subset healthcare.

What Does The Nurse Practitioner Do Every Day?

• Collaborates with the IDT in assuring appropriate evaluation and palliative treatment of terminal disease.
• Consult with and assist in the IDT’s development of patient/family plan of care to assure quality care is provided.
• Educate the patient/family regarding disease process, self-care techniques, end-of-life care.
• Provide training to other clinical staff as needed.
• Perform and document visits to patients/family based on a plan of care.
• Interact with attending and consulting physicians as necessary regarding palliative care. 
• Actively participate in the interdisciplinary team. 
• Provide clinical assessment results to hospice physicians after making face-to-face encounters with patients. 
• Provides on-call services to patients/families as assigned. 

Background and Education You Need to Be Successful:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing program
• Current State license as a Registered Nurse and as an Advanced Practice Nurse
• Current Driver’s License in the state in which the role is located
• 2 years of experience as an APN, in a clinical care setting, with background with a hospice agency required. 
• Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology, palliative care, and end of life care. 
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Proof of Hepatitis consent/declination.
