Smartkarma is hiring a Sales Manager to join its Business Development team, with primary responsibility for expanding Smartkarma’s footprint across the Private Wealth ecosystem. This role is designed for a commercially driven sales professional who has developed strong fundamentals under senior sales leadership and is now ready to take ownership, build a meaningful book of business, and establish a market presence.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Ownership and Client Development
- Own and deliver an individual annual sales target focused on the Private Wealth segment.
- Build, manage, and expand relationships with:
- Private banks
- Wealth managers and family offices
- CIO offices, advisory teams, and investment research functions
- Wealth platforms and wealthtech firms
- Drive new client acquisition and expand existing relationships across research, data, platform subscriptions, and API-based solutions.
Sales Execution
- Run the full sales cycle independently, from prospecting and discovery through commercial negotiation and close.
- Position Smartkarma’s research, data, and API offerings in alignment with client workflows, advisor use cases, and regulatory constraints.
- Articulate how Smartkarma enables clients to differentiate their end-client offering through institutional-quality content.
- Coordinate with internal product, analyst relations, and client success teams to deliver tailored, high-impact solutions.
Market and Segment Development
- Develop a deep understanding of Private Wealth client needs, buying behavior, and budget ownership.
- Track competitive dynamics and evolving content and technology trends within the wealth ecosystem.
- Provide structured market feedback to inform product positioning and go-to-market strategy.
- Represent Smartkarma in client meetings, industry events, and targeted roadshows.
Performance Management and Reporting
- Maintain disciplined pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and CRM hygiene.
- Provide regular updates on sales activity, pipeline health, and market developments to senior management.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or account management within one or more of the following:
- Investment research
- Market data
- Financial technology or wealth technology platforms
- Demonstrated experience selling to Private Banks, Wealth Managers, CIO offices, or advisory and research teams.
- Prior experience working under a senior sales leader or account manager, with exposure to structured enterprise or consultative sales processes.
- Motivated to step into a more autonomous, quota-carrying role with increased accountability and upside.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong commercial judgment with a consistent focus on execution and outcomes.
- Comfortable engaging senior investment professionals and decision-makers.
- Able to translate complex research, data, and technology solutions into clear client value propositions.
- Highly organized, with strong pipeline discipline and follow-through.
- Self-starter mindset with ambition to build a personal franchise and long-term client relationships.
- Experience in a fintech or high-growth environment is advantageous but not required.
