StellarTech is a fast-growing B2C subscription-based app company in the microlearning space, looking to expand its legal team’s capabilities. 

The Role

We’re looking for a talented Legal Counsel to join our expanding legal team. This role will focus on intellectual property and privacy matters, supporting product, marketing, and operations across multiple jurisdictions. The perfect candidate is someone pragmatic, business-minded, and comfortable working in a dynamic digital environment, confidently making judgment calls on the hottest IP and privacy topics and working with internal stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Intellectual Property:
    • Manage trademark, registered design and protected copyrighted assets portfolio, copyright issues, and brand protection globally.
    • Oversee UA creatives, content and other working materials’ IP clearance, user-generated content, and creator agreements.
    • Advise on IP risks in product design, marketing, and partnerships.
    • Handle DMCA takedowns, C&D letters, platform abuse reports and other IP-related enforcement processes. 
    • Analysis of AI services usage by teams and keeping a close watch on AI legislation and new relevant regulatory initiatives.
  • Privacy & Data Protection:
    • Advise on global data protection compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) for app and marketing activities.
    • Draft and implement GDPR-ready data protection policies and artifacts. 
    • Draft and negotiate data processing agreements and vendor terms.
    • Work with product and engineering teams on privacy-by-design initiatives.
  • Commercial Support:
    • Review and negotiate a variety of commercial and tech contracts.
    • Support cross-functional teams (growth, product, UA creatives) on compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Governance & Process:
    • Develop templates, policies, and playbooks to scale legal operations.
    • Collaborate closely with external counsel where needed.

Requirements

  • Master’s or equivalent degree in law. 
  • 5+ years of post-qualification experience, ideally in-house or with a law firm background.
  • Strong experience in IP and privacy (ideally both EU and U.S. exposure).
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice.
  • Interest in consumer tech, digital content, or education industries is a plus.
  • CIPP/E certification and/or previous DPO experience are strong advantages
