Principal SCADA Engineer
TLDR
Own and optimize SCADA systems for a rapidly growing fleet of energy storage and solar assets, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability.
This is a fully remote role for candidates who are based outside of the New York Metropolitan area. For those located in the area, we encourage you to consider our hybrid work arrangement (1-2 days a week in our NYC office). That said, we value flexibility and if you have a different preference, please do not let that deter you from applying – let’s talk about it!
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of any employment-based visas at this time. (e.g., H-1B, TN, visa transfer, green card sponsorship, etc.)
Energy storage is the key to unlocking a future where our world is powered by renewable resources. At Convergent Energy and Power, our mission is to make the electrical grid cleaner, more reliable, and less expensive by leveraging state-of-the-art energy storage and distributed generation technologies.
Convergent’s Software and Data Science team owns applications that optimize the performance and control of a rapidly growing 250+ MWh fleet of energy storage and solar assets. We are a small team that blends diligent product management with rapid, fail-fast execution. Our areas of focus cover three main applications – SCADA/controls, performance analytics, and dispatch optimization, as well as a foundational data platform.
As the team’s Principal SCADA Engineer, you will be the technical owner of systems that directly control Convergent’s storage and solar assets. You will build the roadmap, define the architecture, and lead execution, all to ensure reliability, security, and scalability as our fleet expands. This work includes extensive collaboration with Software and Operations leadership to ensure strategic alignment. In addition, you are trusted to operate with high accountability and independence, making critical technical decisions that impact system availability, cybersecurity posture, and fleet-wide operational performance.
This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and provides technical guidance to cross-functional partners and junior team members.
