Principal Product Manager - Transaction Monitoring

Reports to: Senior Product Director for Risk Applications

Role Summary:

As Principal Product Manager for one of our flagship risk applications, you'll own the complete product strategy and roadmap for a critical business line, working autonomously to drive significant business outcomes. This is a senior individual contributor role where you'll shape the future of regulatory technology while partnering closely with engineering, design, and go-to-market teams to deliver transformative solutions for the fintech ecosystem.

Transaction monitoring is used to detect, analyse, and report suspicious activities indicative of financial crimes like money laundering, terrorist financing, and fraud. It involves the continuous scrutiny of customer transactions to identify unusual patterns or behaviors that deviate from established customer behavior. It processes data points such as transaction amounts, frequency, origin, and destination to flag anomalies. Alerts are generated when a transaction or series of transactions meet the specified criteria.
The process is a cornerstone of modern regulatory compliance. Institutions that don’t adhere to the relevant global laws and directives are risking severe penalties, including substantial fines and sanctions for non-compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and execute product strategy for our Transaction Monitoring application, aligning product vision with business objectives and customer needs while maintaining full ownership of the product roadmap
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with your dedicated engineering squad, applying empowered product team principles to drive autonomous decision-making and rapid value delivery
• Drive product outcomes through rigorous metrics frameworks, establishing KPIs, success metrics, and measurement systems that connect product decisions to business impact
• Shape go-to-market strategy and pricing models, partnering with sales, marketing, and customer success teams to optimise product positioning, packaging, and monetisation
• Conduct deep competitive and market analysis to identify opportunities for differentiation and inform strategic product decisions
• Influence platform and enabling services roadmaps, ensuring your product's needs are represented in shared infrastructure and capability planning
• Champion customer-centric product discovery, conducting regular customer interviews, analysing usage patterns, and synthesising insights into actionable product improvements
• Leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance product capabilities, improve user experiences, and create competitive advantages in the regulatory services space
• Communicate product vision and progress to stakeholders at all levels, from engineering teams to executive leadership, with clarity and conviction
• Establish product operations excellence, implementing modern product delivery tracking, experimentation frameworks, and continuous improvement processes

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of product management experience with at least 3 years in senior/principal IC roles owning complex B2B SaaS products
• Proven track record of driving significant business outcomes through product strategy, with demonstrable impact on revenue, user adoption and/or market position
• Deep expertise in metrics-driven product management, including experience designing and implementing comprehensive measurement frameworks
• Excellence in product discovery and customer research methodologies, with ability to translate insights into successful product strategies
• Demonstrable experience with crafting a product from initial concept to market launch,  blending innovation, meticulous planning, and strategic execution, supported by iterative development and crucial post-launch analysis.
• Strong technical acumen to effectively partner with engineering teams on complex platform products
• Experience with modern product delivery methodologies (continuous discovery, outcome-based roadmaps, experimentation frameworks)
• Outstanding communication skills with ability to influence without authority across all organisational levels
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred

• You've worked with regulatory technology, compliance platforms, or risk management solutions (though we value strong product fundamentals over specific domain expertise)
• You've successfully launched and scaled products in the fintech ecosystem and understand the unique challenges of this space
• You're familiar with AI/ML product integration and have ideas about how these technologies can transform user experiences
• You've influenced platform or infrastructure teams while maintaining product autonomy, understanding how to balance shared services with product-specific needs
• You have experience with pricing strategy and product monetization models for enterprise SaaS, or you're excited to develop this expertise
• You've contributed to the product management community through writing, speaking, or mentoring, and enjoy sharing knowledge with others

In 90 days: You've developed deep understanding of our product, customers, and market. You've established relationships with key stakeholders and begun identifying high-impact opportunities for product improvement.

In 6 months: You've shipped meaningful product enhancements that demonstrate measurable impact on key metrics. Your product strategy is aligned with stakeholders, and you're driving your squad with clear direction and purpose.

In 12 months: You've built out our Transaction Monitoring application as a market-leading solution with significant growth in adoption and revenue. You've established scalable product processes and frameworks that enable sustained innovation and continuous value delivery.
