Principal Product Manager - São Paulo, BR

AI overview

Own and drive complex product areas for financial solutions in Brazil, leveraging a deep understanding of fintech while influencing strategy with a hands-on execution approach.

At R2, we believe that small and medium businesses are the productive engine of society. Small and medium businesses (SMBs) make up over 90% of companies in Latin America, yet they face a trillion-dollar credit gap. Our mission is to unlock SMBs’ potential by providing financial solutions that are tailored to their needs. We are reimagining the financial infrastructure of Latin America - where SMBs financial needs are satisfied without ever having to go to a bank.

R2 enables platforms in Latin America to embed financial services that SMBs can then leverage (starting with revenue-based financing). We are a tight-knit team coming from organizations such as Google, Amazon, Nubank, Uber, Capital One, Mercado Libre, Globant, J.P. Morgan. We are entering a new phase of growth following a strategic investment from Ant International, focused on rapidly expanding our partner footprint, strengthening our credit and underwriting capabilities, and scaling our operations across multiple markets.

The Principal Product Manager is a senior individual contributor responsible for owning complex product areas end-to-end, driving measurable business outcomes, and partnering closely with Engineering, Data, Risk, and Commercial teams. This role operates with high autonomy and is expected to influence strategy while remaining deeply hands-on in execution.

This position is ideal for a product leader who thrives in fintech environments, understands credit, payments, or financial infrastructure, and can translate ambiguous problems into scalable product solutions for Brazil and many LATAM markets.

  • Define and evolve a multi-quarter product strategy aligned with company goals, regulation, and scalability needs in Brazil.
  • Identify and size growth, efficiency, and risk-reduction opportunities using data and market insights.
  • Manage strategic relationships with external partners from evaluation through launch and optimization.
  • Lead end-to-end product discovery and delivery, from problem definition to post-launch optimization.
  • Create clear product documentation (PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria) to enable strong execution.
  • Prioritize initiatives balancing customer value, risk, regulatory constraints, and business impact.
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure predictable delivery and long-term platform quality.
  • Define and track KPIs to measure performance, risk, and unit economics.
  • Use data, experimentation, and feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Data and Risk teams to ensure strong monitoring and insights.
  • Act as a strategic cross-functional partner across Engineering, Risk, Data, Ops, Legal, and Commercial.
  • Drive alignment and influence decisions across diverse stakeholders.
  • Communicate product vision, trade-offs, and progress clearly to leadership.
  • Build deep understanding of Brazilian customers, market dynamics, and regulatory context.
  • Integrate regulatory and cultural nuances into product decisions.
  • Engage directly with customers and partners to validate assumptions and solutions.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management, with significant experience in fintech, financial services, or financial infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex, high-impact products in regulated environments.
  • Strong experience working with Engineering, Data, and Risk teams on technically sophisticated systems.
  • Proven ability to operate autonomously, make high-stakes decisions, and be accountable for outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Portuguese.
  • Strong analytical, structured thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-changing environments with incomplete information.

Strongly Preferred

  • Deep experience in the Brazilian and/or broader LATAM fintech ecosystem.
  • Exposure to credit products, underwriting, risk decisioning, fraud, or collections platforms.
  • Experience with B2B, platform, or API-driven products.
  • Track record of influencing product strategy beyond immediate team or domain.
