AI overview

Drive the strategy and execution of an intelligent decisioning platform crucial for enhancing customer experiences and optimizing marketing efficiency across Achieve's product lines.

Location: San Mateo, CA - this will be a hybrid role.
Team: Enterprise Platform

About the Role

Achieve is building the next generation of intelligent decisioning capabilities to help everyday people get out of debt and build a brighter financial future. As the Principal Product Manager, you will own the strategy, roadmap, and execution of our centralized lead qualification & decisioning engine, which powers these core functions across all Achieve products:

  • Lead Qualification: Enrich, score and route leads across the enterprise.

  • Verifications: Integrate with 3rd-party data providers to retrieve critical credit, income, employment, and fraud signals.

  • Decisioning: Evaluate lead quality, eligibility and credit risk to increase conversion, reduce loss risk, and enable delivery of a more personalized customer experience.

You’ll partner closely with Platform Engineering, Data Science, Business, Compliance, Security and Product teams across the company to scale decision automation, improve decision quality, accelerate experimentation, and modernize Achieve’s decisioning infrastructure.

Why This Role Matters

Achieve’s growth depends on our ability to quickly identify the right customers, route them to the right experiences, and make fast, accurate, customer-centric decisions at scale. The Lead Qualification & Decisioning Platform is both the front door and the brain of how we qualify, and approve customers across all Achieve products.

As the Principal Product Manager, you will shape the intelligence that drives every step of the customer journey—from the moment a lead expresses intent to the moment we present a personalized, risk-appropriate offer that deepens user engagement.

Your work will directly influence:

  • Lead quality and speed-to-lead, ensuring customers are routed to the best product or channel in real time

  • Marketing efficiency, by improving qualification accuracy and minimizing wasted spend

  • Which customers to approve, at what terms, and with what level of risk

  • Decision quality and loss performance, maximizing enrollments while minimizing delinquency and fraud

  • How quickly the business can launch, test and iterate on new strategies (funnels, rules, pricing and models) to stay competitive in a dynamic marketplace

This continued evolution of this platform is central to Achieve’s ability to scale responsibly, expand into new product categories, and deliver the right solution to millions of consumers. The leader in this role will materially influence both our business trajectory and the financial outcomes of the people we serve.

What You’ll Do

  • Define & own the long-term vision and multi-year roadmap for Achieve’s Decisioning Platform, that spans across rules engines, ML decision models, data integrations, model deployment & orchestration

  • Partner closely with the engineering team and platform leadership to align on technical strategy, prioritize initiatives, and provide guidance on business use cases—translating customer needs into scalable and high-impact enterprise solutions while fostering a collaborative, high-performing partnership.

  • Drive platform improvements to increase resiliency, reduce latency, improve versioning & observability, strengthen governance, and enhance UX for internal users.

  • Build and maintain core enterprise integrations with credit bureaus, lending partners, and other critical 3rd party data verification providers (income, employment, fraud, etc.).

  • Enable self-service strategy configuration so product and risk teams can configure, test, and deploy decision models & appropriate strategies safely and quickly to power eligibility, offer optimization, pricing and other decision logic.

  • Enhance lead qualification workflows and routing logic to improve real-time decision accuracy, offer qualification rates, lead transfers, and enrollments.

  • Define & track platform KPIs to assess decision accuracy, model deployment time, decision cycle time, model quality, and operational efficiency.

  • Drive cross-functional alignment across credit, marketing, operations, compliance and emerging business lines to ensure the platform meets enterprise needs.

  • Influence engineering architecture & data model design to ensure scalability, reliability, security, and compliance with data and model governance standards.

Provide thought leadership through identifying opportunities where decisioning, automation, and ML can unlock superior customer outcomes, operational efficiency, and vastly improve business performance.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of product management experience, with deep expertise in decisioning systems, credit/underwriting platforms, rules engines, or ML-driven products.

  • Demonstrated success delivering enterprise-scale platform capabilities, ideally in a high-growth or multi-product environment.

  • Familiarity with PCI compliance, tokenization and data security best practices

  • Strong understanding of risk modeling, decision trees, model lifecycle, experimentation (A/B testing), and data governance.

  • Proven success partnering with strong engineering & data teams to ship high-impact platform capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills—able to simplify complexity and influence key stakeholders & executives.
