Principal Oracle Database Administrator

  • Oversee Oracle 19c databases with a focus on RAC for high availability, ASM configuration, and minimal-downtime upgrades/migrations.
  • Optimize performance via OEM, AWR/ASH, and STATSPACK, implementing advanced tuning (partitioning, indexing, parallel query) for data warehouse queries.
  • Configure and maintain Data Guard, robust RMAN backups, and DR strategies to ensure seamless failover and data protection.
  • Enforce database security (encryption, role-based access, auditing), applying patches to meet CIS compliance.
  • Collaborate on schema design, and capacity planning for large-scale analytics.
  • Utilize tools like Oracle GoldenGate or Data Pump for replication; Oracle APEX knowledge is a plus.
  • Automate routine tasks (backups, alerts) with Shell/PL/SQL scripts and potentially integrate CI/CD pipelines.
  • Mentor junior DBAs, provide best practices, and resolve complex issues alongside infrastructure and development teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on database configurations, DR plans, and operational standards.
  • Stay current with evolving Oracle features (multitenant, in-memory) and industry best practices to enhance performance and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Years of Experience: 6+ years of hands-on Oracle database administration experience, with a strong focus on Oracle 19c and RAC in production environments.
  • Proven proficiency in Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, ASM, and advanced backup/recovery strategies with RMAN.
  • Experience with Data Warehouse architectures, large data sets, and partitioning strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL debugging, query tuning, and execution plan analysis.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), AWR, ASH, ADDM, and statspack for performance diagnostics.
  • Exposure to Oracle GoldenGate or similar replication technologies is highly advantageous.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or OCI) and experience with migrating or running Oracle databases in the cloud is a plus.
