Role Overview
Built is scaling its Marketplace to capture a larger share of lender spend on CRE inspections and pre-close diligence services. This senior individual contributor is expected to drive Built Marketplace outcomes by leading complex, cross-functional programs and building scalable operating systems across Sales, Product, and Operations. The role links strategy and execution, influencing teams, anticipating risks, and translating market reality into systems that unlock revenue and trust.
Core Responsibilities
Sales Enablement & Field Execution: Acts as a trusted subject-matter expert and credibility layer for marketplace-driven sales motions.
- Enable AEs, AMs, and SEs to confidently position and sell: CRE inspections; Pre-close diligence services including appraisals, insurance reviews, permits, environmental, and engineering services
- Join complex sales and executive-level conversations to: Lead discovery on lender diligence workflows and incumbent providers; Provide informed POVs on quality standards, SLAs, compliance expectations, and risk tradeoffs; Reduce friction in procurement, vendor selection, and change-management discussions
- Build and maintain sales enablement assets such as playbooks, objection-handling, competitive talk tracks, and ROI narratives
- Partner with Marketplace Product and Sales leadership to translate field insights into clear product requirements and launch readiness.
Marketplace Supply & Vendor Ecosystem Leadership: Owns the health, scalability, and performance of the diligence provider network.
- Build and scale a high-quality network of diligence service providers across geographies and specialties
- Lead end-to-end vendor acquisition and onboarding, including Sourcing and outreach; Qualification, credentialing, and compliance review; Rate cards, service SKUs, and onboarding workflows
- Negotiate commercial terms and SLAs with a focus on quality, turnaround time, and scalable economics
- Design and operate vendor performance systems, including: Tiering and certification frameworks; Performance scorecards and quality metrics; Remediation and escalation paths
- Partner with Ops, Finance, and Legal to ensure scalable contracting, payment, and dispute-resolution processes
Cross-Functional Program Leadership: Serve as the connective tissue across all core teams (Sales, Product, Ops, Marketing). Drive marketplace performance (liquidity, buyer experience), influence the roadmap (tooling, compliance), and own vendor qualification/performance standards. Proactively identify and escalate risks impacting margin or compliance.
Demonstrate Success in Ambiguous Environment: Independently lead complex, ambiguous initiatives, creating clarity and delivering repeatable systems. Must balance speed, quality, and risk in a regulated environment. Success is defined by anticipating needs, building trust, and consistently achieving Built’s OKRs.
Experience & Background
- 8–12+ years in Commercial Real Estate (CRE) diligence/inspections, pre-close diligence services, or services-based vendor network platforms.
- Demonstrated ownership of a third-party provider ecosystem, including recruiting, onboarding, credentialing, compliance, and designing performance standards (quality, SLA, turnaround time).
- Direct experience working with or selling into lenders, with a clear understanding of diligence procurement, vendor selection drivers, and common friction points (quality, consistency, compliance).
- Proven field-facing credibility: partnering with Sales as a subject-matter expert, joining complex/executive customer conversations, and influencing buying decisions.
- Commercial negotiation experience: developing rate cards/pricing models, negotiating SLAs, and balancing vendor economics with marketplace margin and scalability goals.
- Strong cross-functional operating experience with Product (tooling/workflows), Operations (onboarding/payments/quality), and Finance/Legal (contracts/compliance frameworks).
- Willingness to travel up to 30-50%
Nice to Have
- Experience in or adjacent to diligence marketplaces, vendor panel or network management platforms, or appraisal management companies/valuation technology providers.
- Prior exposure to lender-side procurement, appraisal management, risk functions, or operating within regulated, compliance-heavy environments.
- History of designing systems, not just executing tasks, such as vendor tiering/certification models, performance scorecards/quality assurance frameworks, and scalable onboarding/credentialing workflows.
- Experience partnering closely with Product on marketplace tooling, vendor portals, and discovery, quoting, bidding, or scheduling workflows.
