What You’ll Do

The Memory Solutions Lab (MSL) mission is to develop innovative open system architectures and solutions that transform the performance of semiconductor memory in SSDs, mobile devices and data centers.

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is a world leader in Storage and Memory technologies. We are currently looking for senior technical talent skilled in Storage and Cloud to join our team in San Jose, CA. The Engineer will contribute to memory and storage system research in Data Fabrics Solutions, MSL. He or she will join a team of experts in researching and developing innovative memory and storage system solutions that utilize existing and emerging technologies to add substantial value to storage systems. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in programming, storage architectures, end-to-end system solutions, deployment and testing/debug.

Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Jose, CA headquarters 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time the remainder of your time

  • Sound understanding of Object Storage, Container Storage, Kubernetes, Data Pipelines, RDMA, Performance Profiling, and related technologies.
  • Architect, Design, and Own end-to-end storage solutions and respective deployment models, working across the organization.
  • Quickly understand storage system and validate system software features, functionality, and performance aspects.
  • Be a team player at all times with expertise in understanding, developing, and debugging complex algorithms related to the storage stack.
  • Come up with new use cases, and test plans that can exercise the functionality of distributed storage software.
  • Support and maintain Open Source Software.
  • Define and develop storage software requirements and implement an overall framework.
  • Hands-on testing, debugging, and root cause analysis of storage software.
  •  Be able to pick up and adapt to evolving paradigms in data and storage technologies

What You Bring

    • BS in Computer Engineering and Computer Science with 20+ years with focus on Operating Systems, Data Structures and Storage systems. MS in Computer Engineering and Computer Science with 18+ Years of Industry Experience, with focus on Operating Systems, Data Structures and Storage system preferred. 
    •  Good understanding in storage systems, SSDs, HPC, Big Data.
    •  Good understanding for storage deployment models using Kubernetes and Containers at large scale.
    •  Good background in performance benchmarking and identify bottleneck in I/O Stack.
    •  Good understanding of computer system architecture, programming languages, and storage management APIs.
    •  Good understanding of Jira/Jenkins/Github related tools.
    • You’re inclusive, adapting your style to the situation and diverse global norms of our people.
    • An avid learner, you approach challenges with curiosity and resilience, seeking data to help build understanding.

The pay range below is for all roles at this level across all US locations and functions. Individual pay rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location, as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education, and training. Base Pay Range
$158,400$312,000 USD
