About the Role (your why)  

We know Payroll and have been processing payroll accurately and compliantly for over 50 years. The Principal Engineer – Automation is responsible for analysing business requirements, solution architecture, solution design, development, deployment and ongoing maintenance of large-scale transformative software projects. This role includes maximising automation needs and design thinking in teams by collaborating with DevOps, Quality Assurance and Product and Engineering teams on in-flight product needs.

 

What you’ll do   

 

  • Leading AI and automation work in development teams, including planning, controlling and reporting on progress.
  • Designing, coding and deploying automation frameworks as per the programme strategy either in one major language or in a range of programs across multiple platforms.
  • Leading and mentoring other engineers in the team to uplift skills such as AI workflows
  • May act as technology authority in short- or long-term planning making recommendations on technical policies with the overall program.
  • Ensuring that systems are developed within agreed budgets and time frames and achieving necessary design and systems security standards.
  • Monitoring the performance and availability of systems hardware and software.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation as required.

 

What you’ll bring  

 

  • Expert knowledge of various Software, Quality Assurance, Artificial Intelligence and Automation tools and techniques.
  • 10+ years in Software Development, with at least 4 years in a large IT organisation.
  • Expert knowledge across current software toolsets such as C#/.Net, C#/.Net Core, NodeJS
  • Experience building software using patterns like Event Sourcing, Domain Driven Design, Service Oriented Architectures, and Hexagonal/Onion/Clean architecture as these are fundamental to the system
  • Experience with the following will be a bonus: EventStore, Temporal, GraphQL
  • Knowledge of systems integration using APIs; REST, web services, Auth0 etc
  • Experience building emerging workflows in AI.
  • Proficient with modern DevOps Tools and utilities.
  • Proficient with modern Testing Tools and utilities.
  • Effective presentation skills with the ability to convey technical information across various levels including cross functional collaboration and proactive stakeholder engagement
  • Strong financial management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation and project revenue.
