The AI & ML Principal Engineer will collaborate closely with client and delivery teams to define and execute on AI/ML projects in alignment with company’s practice vision and goals. They will also lead, design, and implement strategic consulting projects leveraging Generative AI and Machine/Deep Learning methods and techniques, conduct POC/pilots, map solutions to client business processes, and develop technical value propositions for Lab49’s capabilities.
What you’ll do:
- Act as a principal consultant to clients in the Financial Services domain, understanding their unique challenges and requirements, and proposing AI/ML solutions that drive value and impact.
- Lead and execute on consulting engagements (design and implementation), client workshops, and presentations to showcase the potential of AI/ML technologies for clients.
- Manage client relationships and ensure the successful delivery of AI/ML projects on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and product owners, to gather requirements, define project scope, and establish success criteria.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven and in-depth experience of 5+ years in designing and delivering ML solutions, preferably within a consultancy or cloud solutions environment.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience delivering production-ready solutions in an enterprise environment.
- Proven experience in ML techniques including: regression, classification, time series, clustering, deep learning, hypothesis testing, cross validation, feature selection and feature extraction; NLP techniques including: topic modeling, entity extraction, summarization, and sentiment analysis.
- Highly proficient in Python and relevant ML & Data Engineering libraries (Spark, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, NumPy, Pandas, Dask).
- In-depth knowledge of generative AI techniques and frameworks, such as GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks), VAEs (Variational Auto encoders), or similar.
- A passion for the Generative AI space, particularly around NLP and LLMs.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and familiarity with relevant AI/ML/DL services and tools is a plus.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members
Nice to have:

- Demonstrable work in AI/ML and/or relevant certifications
