We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer specializing in Aero Thermal System Modeling to join a leading aerospace engineering team. This role focuses on the development, simulation, and validation of complex air management and thermal systems for aircraft, ensuring reliable and efficient system performance. You will work with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to design and optimize HVAC, gas turbine, and environmental control systems using advanced simulation tools. This position requires deep technical expertise, critical thinking, and hands-on experience with model-based design, offering a challenging environment for innovation and professional growth. You will also play a mentoring role, guiding junior engineers and contributing to high-quality engineering standards.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and validate steady-state and dynamic models of air management and thermal systems using tools like Modelica/Dymola, Simulink, or Simscape.
  • Perform thermodynamic cycle, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer device modeling to support aircraft system design.
  • Conduct model correlation, verification, and validation to ensure accurate system simulation results.
  • Create FMU-based model exchanges and support solver configuration for system convergence.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to technical and business proposals for advanced methods development.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, sharing expertise in modeling techniques and best practices.
  • Document lessons learned, standard works, job instructions, and checklists to improve team efficiency and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s in Fluid/Thermal/Design preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Aero Thermal System Modeling or model-based design for aircraft systems.
  • Strong expertise in steady-state and dynamic system modeling for HVAC, gas turbines, engine bleed air regulation, air distribution, or gas inerting systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Modelica/Dymola, Simulink, Simscape, or similar object-oriented modeling tools (8+ years).
  • Proficiency in Matlab or Python scripting for modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of FMU-based model exchange, solver configuration, and model convergence issues.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to analyze, monitor, and improve system efficiency and stability.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with international teams.
  • Experience in proposal development and contributing to professional engineering communities.
