Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Consultant with a proven record of leading cutting edge health data projects, to provide strategic, operational, and administrative leadership for FHC’s all-payer claims database (APCD) projects. FHC is the national leader in supporting states in the implementation and operation of APCDs. The Principal Consultant, APCD Management and Analytics, is a recognized national expert in implementing and operating Multi Payer Claims Databases and analyzing APCD data to provide insights into important health policy questions. The ideal candidate will easily transition between guiding FHC teams to design and efficiently implement APCD initiatives to the highest quality standards to advising clients on how to leverage the collected data to develop analytics and visualizations that advance State priorities. We are looking for a leader with a vision for how states could elevate their use of APCD data and FHC’s role in supporting them. The Principal Consultant is accountable for the success, reputation and financial sustainability of FHC’s APCD projects, and will assume a prominent role in project execution, client engagement, staff development, and business development. Reporting directly to the Vice President, you will lead projects and initiatives related to APCD Management and Analytics, including providing direct supervision to 2-4 Senior Consultants and Consultants, and work closely with our clients in state governments and non-profits to design and efficiently implement initiatives to the highest quality standards. Your leadership and management expertise combined with your deep understanding of national health data trends will be instrumental in evolving FHC’s high-performing culture and growing our business.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Vice President, provide strategic, operational, and administrative leadership for APCD projects
  • Accountable for the reputation, output, growth, and financial sustainability of APCD projects
  • Lead projects associated with APCDs, including developing processes that create and maintain a supportive and high-performing culture.
  • Manage a team of 2-4 Senior Consultants and Consultants, providing guidance, mentorship and support, including day-to-day supervision and performance reviews
  • Develop and deliver national presentations.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to State-agency clients and others that work in the healthcare industry to understand their specific challenges and goals and propose appropriate and creative methodologies and approaches.
  • Serve as lead and accountable party for APCD projects, with accountability for project design and execution of all client deliverables, including content, quality, and accuracy.
  • Delegate work to, and oversee, cross-functional project teams – including data engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts – to achieve project goals and deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Scope and draft written deliverables, organizing key information in a clear and impactful manner.
  • Lead stakeholder meetings
  • Secure opportunities to expand Freedman HealthCare’s professional service offerings related to APCD operations, management, and analytics including decisions on entering new markets and other business development opportunities
  • Lead business development activities, including serving as lead writer on RFP’s and other bid proposals.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Recognized national expert in APCD operations and use including management, governance, and analytics
  • Substantial experience in organizational management and leadership
  • Proven success in business development
  • Substantial experience in successfully leading and managing heath data projects, with a specific focus on claims data and emerging APCD data sources (e.g., non-claims, rebates)
  • Experience in project design and evaluation, including experience in defining project roles and delegating tasks appropriately
  • Experience serving as a supervisor and mentor
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and work under deadlines.
  • Demonstrable writing and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to derive insights from complex datasets and identify trends and key takeaways in a clear manner

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Advance degree (Master’s of Public Health or similar) preferred
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience leading and managing project teams in the health data or health policy fields
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a direct supervisor
  • Experience growing business by finding and researching new leads and/or establishing relationships with best-fit potential clients in the health data or health analytics domain.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Salary
$160,206 – $204,263 per year
