About the Role 

As a Principal Cloud Infra Engineer in Cloud Platform team, this role will focus on Cloud Platform Infrastructure, Services and processes at its best to enhance Cloud infrastructure & system Efficiencies, Productivity, Availability, Scalability and system quality at 10X scale. This role will be responsible for diving deep into business problems, understanding current customer pain points, system domain, current Platform limitations (if exists) and then work closely with engineering teams / leaders to design and architect new system / services leveraging cloud infrastructure that can scale 10X better in terms of availability, reliable, performance and efficiency. This  includes providing system architecture artifacts, accountability on cloud infrastructure choices that can perform and scale at 10X level but are still efficient, guidance on using right machine type, network designs etc . You will be part of a Global team working from different locations but still works as a central connected unit.

Key Responsibilities 

• Architect workload and service management infrastructure.  
• Hands-on develop critical infrastructure components. 
• Decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions, providing mechanisms for the teams to prioritize ruthlessly and “move with urgency”.
• Envision roadmaps for the scalable and robust growth of Coupang’s growing Application infrastructure.
• Align with stakeholders, develop strong developers and provide technical guidance to engineers on critical projects to resolve complex business problems.
• Demonstrate excellence resulting in scalable systems and services with the highest quality architecture and design.
• Dive deep into critical system issues, proactively addressing similar root causes, and raise the bar on Operational Excellence.
• Collaborate with other Coupang tech leaders to make the service extensible to unlock opportunities for innovations.

Key Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical fields. 
• 15+ years professional software development experience, or 8 years’ experience with advanced degree.  
• 8+ years’ experience of project tech lead. 
• Hands-on experience in designing and developing large scale distributed system in the last 4 years. 
• One who is fluent in one or more among Java, Go and Python.
• Proven track record of delivering mission critical systems.
• Experience developing and growing senior individual contributors globally.
• Experience with cloud computing using AWS or Azure or GCP.
• Experienced in Machine learning job deployment infrastructure like Ardo CD workflow.

Traits and Competencies 

• Able to operate autonomously to manage team and its projects in a fast-paced environment and remain focused amidst frequently changing requirements.
• Able to pitch and hold in depth discussions with the C-level stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience in Kubernetes, gRPC. 
• Experience in concurrency, multi-threading, synchronization, and non-blocking IO. 
• Deep understing of operating system kernel and distributed system such as Kafka, Cassandra and MongoDB.
• Proficient in some of the ML infrastructure and deployment frameworks like: TensorFlow, PyTorch, TensorRT, Triton backend etc.
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and leading the delivery of large-scale services for complex business offerings.
• Ability to influence cross functional stakeholders, prioritize ruthlessly, Aim High and Find a Way to deliver results with grit.
• Capable of or is fluent in English communication.  
• Master or PhD degree in computer science or other related technical
