Requirements

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Successful completion of a diploma in Emergency Care/Paramedicine from a Community College in Ontario.
  • EMCA or A-EMCA certified by the Ministry of Health.
  • Certification as a Primary Care Paramedic in the Province of Ontario, (Regulation 257/00).
  • Currently certified as a Primary Care Paramedic, Advanced Care Paramedic, or Critical Care Paramedic in good standing with an Ontario Base Hospital
  • Must be willing to obtain IV certification when next available course is offered (if not already certified)
  • Possess current valid CPR certificate.
  • Possess and maintain all qualifications as specified under the Ambulance Act and Regulations.
  • Up to six (6) months of related experience.
  • Ability to exert heavy physical effort required to treat and move patients, deliver medical equipment or sort inventory at station and in ambulance.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class “F” Ontario Driver’s Licence.
  • Must be flexible to work days, evenings and/or weekends.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check will be required
  • Complete Immunization information once provided
  • Driver’s Abstract

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgment in emergency situations.
  • Courteous and effective skills in dealing with the public.

Hours of Work: Up to 84 hours within a two week period.

  • The 2 shift assignments available for the duration of this contract will be Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 18:00.
  • Prior to the end of this contract there will be an opportunity for consideration to remain in a permanent part-time capacity.
