Preconstruction Manager & Estimator  Langford & Low Construction  Portland, ME     Langford & Low Construction is seeking a Preconstruction Manager & Estimator, to be based in their Portland, ME office.     Requirements of the Preconstruction Manager & Estimator:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred) 
  • 5+ years of experience in construction management preconstruction and estimating 
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost control 
  • Ability to interface with clients and develop preconstruction estimates with limited information.   
  • Proficiency in estimating software and project management tools 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills 
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities 
  • Ability to commute to Portland, ME and travel to job sites Monday through Friday.  
  • Benefits of the Job:
  • Salary starting at $100,000, commensurate with experience.

  • Responsibilities of the Preconstruction Manager & Estimator:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals for construction projects 
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents 
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing for labor, materials, and equipment 
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier bids 
  • Identify project risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options 
  • Prepare cost reports and forecasts for management and clients 
  • Assist in contract negotiations and administration 
  • Participate in project meetings and presentations
