The Practice Technology Leader ensures LaBella’s people, processes, and technology work together to strengthen project delivery, support divisional goals, and modernize how the company operates. The Practice Technology Leader’s role is to provide direction and oversight to the corporate Practice Technology team and technology used for project delivery activities across LaBella. The Practice Technology Leader will partner closely with Division Directors and senior leadership to ensure practice technology processes support company-wide goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Alignment

• Develop and lead a cohesive Practice Technology Strategy aligned with COO direction and division-level priorities.

• Maintain close collaboration with Division Directors to understand goals, opportunities, and operational pressures.

• Create shared planning, prioritization, and communication structures that bring clarity to how technology decisions and changes are made.

• Coordinate with IT, Operations, and Divisions to ensure technology choices are intentional and business-driven.

Practice Technology Oversight and Innovation

• Oversee technology that directly affects project delivery and daily work of LaBella’s technical divisions. Examples include but are not limited to Autodesk and Bentley environments, modeling workflows, GIS, drones, scanning, content management, standards, dashboarding, and project workflow tools.

• Lead comprehensive assessment of current tools, workflows, and needs across divisions.

• Work with division leadership to prioritize improvements with the greatest business impact.

• Shape how new tools are evaluated, deployed, trained, supported, and measured.

• Implement clear, consistent rollout standards: pilots, change management, communication, training, adoption tracking, and follow-up.

• Create a unified, intuitive approach to data structure and content organization, making it easier for teams, new hires, and acquisitions to work consistently.

• Serve as the “translator” between IT and the practice — helping each understand the other’s needs, constraints, and priorities.

• Lead the identification and deployment of AI, automation, analytics, and emerging digital tools that boost efficiency, quality, and profitability. Work with Division Directors to identify tailored use cases that directly support their business.

• Partner with the Applied AI Manager to operationalize internal AI tools and evaluate new technologies. Monitor industry trends and evaluate strategic opportunities for the practice.

Team Leadership and Management

Build and manage a multi-layered Practice Technology team that may include:

• Design Technology Manager/BIM Managers

• Spatial Data Manager

• Applied AI Manager

• Change Management / Strategic Initiatives Manager

• BIM/CAD specialists

• GIS and drone technicians

• AI/automation specialists

• Content and standards coordinators

• Training & onboarding coordinators

Budget Management: Develop, manage, and track the annual Practice Technology labor and expense budget, ensuring resources are distributed effectively and efficiently. Coordinate with IT and Operations departments for hardware and software budgeting.

Vendor Management: Negotiate and manage relationships with Practice Technology vendors, ensuring cost-effective solutions and services. This includes but is not limited to external BIM and CAD support and training and other hardware and software maintenance renewals.

Security and Compliance: Coordinate with the Information Security Manager to ensure IT security policies and procedures are followed in Practice Technology decisions and workflows.

Requirements

• 15+ years of BIM experience in architecture, engineering, or construction industry required

• 3+ years in a leadership or management role required

• Previous experience across multiple AEC disciplines (Architecture, Civil, MEP, Structural) required or strongly preferred

• Expert proficiency in Autodesk based software platforms across multiple disciplines required

• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing standards and templates across multiple disciplines

• Experience managing teams and developing staff

• Strong understanding of interdisciplinary coordination and project delivery processes

• Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

• Ability to work collaboratively with other technology teams, across divisions, and to coordinate multi-office initiatives

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred

Salary Range: $130,000 - $145,000

The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
