Role Purpose

The PR Manager plays a critical role in shaping and delivering impactful communications strategies for local, regional, and international B2B clients. The role requires strong strategic thinking, exceptional execution skills, and the ability to influence media narratives that deliver measurable business impact.

A core function of this role is a deep understanding of the regional media landscape and the ability to leverage established, credible relationships with key journalists and editors across Asia. The PR Manager must navigate diverse markets, anticipate media trends, and secure meaningful earned media opportunities that position clients as industry leaders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivery:

  • Develop, manage, and deliver a wide range of PR services, including press releases, media interviews, byline articles, case studies, speeches, messaging frameworks, and thought leadership
  • Demonstrate a strong and nuanced understanding of the regional media landscape, including key industry publications, influencers, and emerging platforms
  • Build, maintain, and leverage robust relationships with priority journalists and editors to secure consistent, high-quality media coverage
  • Proactively identify media angles, storytelling opportunities, and editorial calendars to maximise visibility for clients
  • Place stories strategically and organise interviews that align with client narratives and business objectives.
  • Conduct ongoing industry and marketing research to stay abreast of emerging trends, competitive movements, and sector developments

  • Ensure all work is commercially optimised and potential financial risks are minimised
  • Uphold all Fifth Ring processes and procedures
  • Support Business Development through proposal input, media insights, and participation in pitch preparations
  • Demonstrate and communicate the impact and effectiveness of PR activity
  • Support Fifth Ring’s regional marketing and visibility initiatives

Colleagues:

  • Foster strong internal networks to collaborate effectively across disciplines and geographies
  • Share expertise proactively with colleagues across all Fifth Ring offices
  • Contribute ideas, creativity, and consultative support to internal teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned and agreed with the line manager

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

Essential:

  • Formal qualification in communications, marketing, journalism, or relevant field
  • Experience in PR or marketing communications, preferably in an agency environment
  • Understanding of B2B marketing & communications
  • Established media relationships with key journalists and editors in relevant industries and markets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to craft clear, engaging, audience-relevant content
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Desirable:

  • Experience working with the media across the APAC region
  • Knowledge of content marketing and digital communications
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Experience with media database management
  • Copywriting and content development expertise
