Power Operations Center Manager

TLDR

Lead the Operations Center for project deployment visibility and issue resolution, fostering cross-functional collaboration and maintaining a high-performance organization in the nuclear industry.

NOTE:  This position will be based in our Houston, TX office, located in CityCentre area.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager, NuScale Power Operations Center is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and orchestration of the Operations Center and is directly responsible for owning the governance, technology/data integration, cross-functional issues management, stakeholder communications, and continuous improvement. This role ensures timely visibility to schedule, cost, risk, quality, and resource availability for the portfolio of deployment projects. Additionally, this role is responsible for driving the escalation and resolution of issues, driving timely decision making, and serves as the central point of contact for issues that require help from deployment projects.

 

This position will need to be capable of operating in an organization where they may or may not have direct positional authority over the resources needed to perform work. Therefore, the individual will need to be able to effectively work and communicate at multiple levels of the organization as well as across organizational boundaries. In addition, this individual needs to have a high technical knowledge of small modular reactors, and be capable of translating the technical knowledge into broadly consumable information.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Establish and evolve a highperforming Operations Center that anticipates and resolves execution issues across engineering, supply chain, quality, services, and project delivery.
  2. Maintain standardized, realtime dashboards and reporting that support leadership decisionmaking and stakeholder alignment.
  3. Maintain and drive the top 10 issues list and project actions; remove roadblocks and secure crossfunctional support.
  4. Lead the defined meeting cadence (daily standups, weekly reviews, and monthly rollups) with discipline and clarity.
  5. Take a lead role in ensuring organizational readiness for product deployment
  6. Embed INPO 15005, Leadership and Team Effectiveness Attributes and INPO 12002, Traits of a Healthy Nuclear Safety Culture, into meetings and decisions; foster open communication, trust, and noblame early issue identification.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Education: A minimum of a B.A. or B.S. degree in physical sciences (e.g., physics) or Engineering.   
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of full-time applicable working experience within the nuclear industry is required.  Must be experienced with the design and construction of nuclear reactor technology as well as expert knowledge of the NuScale NPM design, supply chain, and large project execution.  Must have working level knowledge with NRC regulatory frameworks, ASME Section III, 10 CFR 50/52 processes, and nuclear QA programs (NQA-1).  Previous experience in a new nuclear plant operations center or outage command center is highly desired.
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
