In June 2022, we announced a $220 million Series D funding round co-led by StepStone Group, Lightspeed Venture Partners and General Catalyst. With a post-money valuation of $1.7bn, the round makes us the UK’s first EdTech unicorn.

But we aren’t stopping there. With a strong operational footprint and 800+ employees, we have ambitious plans to continue scaling. We’re building a world where tech skills unlock people’s potential and output.

Join Multiverse and power our mission to equip the workforce to win in the AI era.

The Opportunity

TL;DR: Multiverse is looking for a politically savvy operator to lead our policy function and drive the agenda on skills and AI adoption.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the policy environment not only allows Multiverse to exist, but accelerates our growth. You will own our high-stakes work to increase employer investment in skills, while positioning us as the definitive partner for society and Government in the AI era.

This means a balance between hustle and deep thinking. You’ll build a network of champions across Parliament, Whitehall, and think tanks, while also translating complex political dynamics into growth opportunities for our business.

To excel, you’ll need to build the network that opens doors, the strategic judgement to know which doors matter, and a deep passion for the UK tech ecosystem. You won't just be commenting on policy; you will be evolving it.

This role will report to the VP Corporate Affairs, within the CEO’s Office.

Specifically, you will:

  • Drive our flagship policy campaigns: Execute our strategy to champion greater employer investment in skills and modernisation of the apprenticeship system.

  • Build and leverage a high-impact network: Cultivate deep relationships with key decision-makers and influencers. You will be expected to represent our team in complex and impactful engagements.

  • Balance strategy with rapid response: You will simultaneously drive long-term strategic goals for the business while managing short-term fire-fighting to mitigate risks as they arise.

  • Own the external narrative on skills & AI: Partner with our Data & Insights teams, and agency partners, to produce rigorous research and the policy recommendations that flow from them.

  • Act as a strategic advisor to Leadership: You’ll provide leaders, builders and operators with sharp, actionable intelligence on the policy landscape and how it impacts our business reality.

You will bring to the role:

  • 6+ years of experience in a policy, public affairs, or political role, with a track record of shaping legislation or government guidance.

  • A "Scale-up" mindset: Passion for education and access to opportunity are essential, but not sufficient on their own: you must want to scale UK companies and the wider tech sector.

  • Exceptional relationship-building skills: You will be the lead interface between Multiverse and policy makers. You will bring the proven ability to build value-based relationships.

  • Commercial fluency: You understand that policy work must drive business outcomes. You are comfortable discussing ROI, TAM, and growth KPIs, and many other acronyms besides, with your colleagues.

  • Superb writing and communication skills: You can distill complex regulation into clear briefings for the C-Suite and compelling arguments for Ministers.

  • The confidence to challenge: You are prepared to be a thought partner to VPs and C-Suite leaders, offering clear recommendations even when that means disagreeing, in pursuit of our mission
