STARTING ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $50,000 - $55,000
POSITION SUMMARY: The City Based Policy Analyst - Philadelphia provides programmatic and policy-driven direction for New Voices for Reproductive Justice’s (New Voices) Policy and Advocacy strategy. This position will educate Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized people across Pennsylvania and Ohio about legislation that directly impacts their lives. The City Based Analyst will do this through political education, policy advocacy, partnering with allied lawmakers, and educational opportunities – all through a Reproductive Justice lens. The City Based Analyst will embody an entrepreneurial, self-starting mentality, with an eagerness to learn and educate others, collaborate across departments to support New Voices’ communities, and innovate and manage towards annual programmatic objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Serve as New Voices’ advocacy expert in Philadelphia, including educating constituents internally and externally on relevant legislation, public health or climate data and information, current news and events, etc.
Cultivate and build relationships with strategic partners and coalitions, allied lawmakers, community and grassroots leaders, and Black environmental and climate advocates to support and inform Environmental Justice and Reproductive Freedom advancing legislation.
In partnership with the Policy and Advocacy Manager, track and monitor relevant legislation at the city, state, and federal levels.
Engage New Voices’ constituent base and contacts to become organizational champions through the creation and dissemination of educational materials, planning and implementing related campaigns.
Implement mutual aid efforts that encourage an increased knowledge of and direct action and organizing for Reproductive Justice.
Attend relevant city and state-wide congressional briefings, budget hearings, etc.
In partnership with the Narrative Power Manager, create a strategic media plan to position New Voices as a thought leader in policy and education.
Perform other related duties as assigned or needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in any of the following areas: Environmental and/or Climate Justice or Action; Racial, Gender, or Reproductive Justice; Black Maternal Health/Reproductive Health; Public Health; Community Organizing; and/or Public Policy.
At least two (2) years of experience hosting and/or facilitating workshops, trainings, or other programs either in-person or online, demonstrating excellent planning, presentation, and speaking skills.
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Affirms the core principles of the Reproductive Justice and Human Rights framework for Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized people.
Strategic, creative, resourceful, flexible, and innovative thinker.
Must be comfortable with public speaking and speaking to the media as needed; basic oral, written, and presentation skills coupled with experience in relationship building and outstanding interpersonal skills.
Must be able to effectively discuss Reproductive Justice and the health and well-being of Black women, Black queer folks, and Black marginalized people with diverse audiences.
Demonstrates discipline and motivation in completing designated projects.
Exhibits the ability to work independently and excellent time management skills.
Demonstrates passion, enthusiasm, motivation, commitment, integrity, and the ability to inspire others to engage with New Voices.
Proficiency in Google Suite; experience with database programs such as Bloomerang is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a typical office setting with no exposure to adverse environmental conditions: 1) Travels throughout the designated region of Philadelphia,
Pittsburgh, or Cleveland, and throughout the states of Pennsylvania and Ohio representing the organization 2) Frequently required to work at a fast pace 3) Requires considerable concentration and creativity 4) Requires irregular hours including evening and weekend work.
