Job description:

The PO Receiver will handle and process deliveries to the plant. Tasks include examples such as verifying that contents are accurate and that no items are damaged and maintain an efficient flow of merchandise, which involves documenting, storing, stocking, locating, and distributing stock onsite. These activities are to be conducted while ensuring and improving safety and housekeeping.

Key responsibilities:

  • Safety: maintain a safe work environment through training, policy adherence, and housekeeping.
  • Verify items received are accurate in quality and quantity, advise appropriate personnel of any non-conformances and/or discrepancies, receive the items into the inventory system, and distribute items to accurate personnel.
  • Required to become comfortable with all stock items and their location in the plant and DC; also, to be familiar with the part number system.
  • Complete knowledge and utilization of the RF system, Infoflo, and SAP.
  • Meet department safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
  • Required to receive the product with limited supervision accurately.
  • Perform cycle counts as vital, including production and DC department inventory counts. (i.e. Packaged regrind and scrap).
  • Needs to be reasonably familiar with all plant receiving and shipping operations and their relationship with other departments.
  • Required to assist in keeping the plant/dock area neat, clean, and orderly, including filing systems.
  • Requires good mobility – work involves considerable routine walking, bending, lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. or more, crawling, climbing ladders and equipment, and housekeeping activities such as sweeping.
  • Responsible for receiving shipments in a reasonable amount of time, ensuring safety and accuracy.
  • Load and unload trucks, both box and flatbed.
  • Other duties as delegated

Requirements

  • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • 1-2 years of receiving or inventory control experience preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated to work independently under minimal direction and have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to interpret instructions and directions diligently.
  • Computer skills including, responsibilities encompass, among others Microsoft Office, Infoflo, and SAP.
  • Forklift experience or certification.

Complexity and judgment

Regularly encounters problems that involve multiple-choice options, but through prior exposure, experience, and established procedures/policies, can resolve most appropriate course of action. Work involves both routine and non-routine tasks within well-defined standards.

Physical requirements

  • The ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, lift, and perform for long periods.
  • The ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety glasses and hearing protection.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, or holidays.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions.

Working conditions:

The physical effort required is considerable due to heavy physical activities of various kinds. The physical environment is deemed moderate as a result of exposure to various substances or equipment; this includes but is not restricted to, moving machinery, repetitive motions, noise, and powered industrial equipment. Regular work is performed in a non-controlled temperature environment. These exposures could produce discomfort and/or moderate accident risk or ill health. The sensory attention is considered moderate due to often requiring increased demand on two or more senses at a time. The mental stress is assessed as moderate on account of regular pressures from due dates, quotas, and accuracy.
