As a Platform Operations Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining on-premises platforms, ensuring system reliability, and implementing modern operational practices. You will work closely with agency stakeholders to deliver secure, stable, and efficient IT platforms that power essential public services. Candidates with public sector experience are preferred, as this role supports IT projects for government agencies.

Responsibility:

Infrastructure Management & Platform Maintenance

  • Maintain critical infrastructure platforms including compute, storage, virtualisation, and supporting systems across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Manage virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), including capacity monitoring, performance optimisation, and lifecycle management.
  • Support containerisation initiatives and maintain container orchestration platforms where applicable.

Standards, Automation & Modern Practices

  • Implement platform standards, automation, and modern operational practices to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for provisioning and configuration management.
  • Execute secure patching strategies with automation to maintain system stability and minimise disruptions.

Monitoring, Observability & Security

  • Deploy and maintain robust monitoring and observability solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Enforce security controls such as access management, hardening, and compliance monitoring.
  • Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions for critical components.

Support & Collaboration

  • Provide L2/L3 technical support for platform-related incidents, including root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Collaborate with application teams to ensure scalability, stability, and performance of platforms.
  • Support platform enhancement initiatives and implementation of new infrastructure solutions, ensuring compliance with enterprise architecture standards.

Documentation & Team Development

  • Develop and maintain platform documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
  • Mentor and support team members in platform operations and modern infrastructure practices.

Requirements

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Must have 2–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong experience with enterprise virtualisation platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V).
  • Hands-on experience with storage systems (SAN, NAS) and enterprise backup solutions.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows Server administration.
  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms.
  • Practical understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts and technologies.
  • Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Experience with high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Good to Have:

  • Experience with Singapore Government Project will be advantageous.
  • Prior experience in infrastructure modernisation initiatives.
  • Splunk knowledge. 

Certificate Preferred:

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) 
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server 
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) 
  • ITIL v4 Foundation 
  • HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
