Plant Loader Operator

TLDR

Operate the asphalt plant to optimize production while ensuring compliance with safety standards and contributing to effective inventory management.

Position Summary

This position involves operating the asphalt plant efficiently and effectively to maximize production while maintaining a safe work environment at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
  • Operator loader to receive incoming raw materials and maintains inventory levels and stockpiles
  • Assists plant management in ordering materials needed for plant operation
  • Operates plant equipment to regulate the flow of materials to and from conveyors, chutes, pumps, and storage bins
  • Performs repairs as needed to plant equipment and performs preventative maintenance in order to keep the plant running
  • Assists plant management with record keeping and daily production schedules for submitting reports on production and maintenance
  • Performs a variety of tasks assisting with the operation of the plant, including using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills
  • Perform well in a “TEAM” environment
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Willing to work hours that are associated with the asphalt industry, including overtime and weekends as needed
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen

Minimum Education and Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience operating heavy equipment. Experience in the asphalt industry preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.

 

We are excited to share the base hourly rate for this position is $34.01+. Membership with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local Union No, 9 is required upon hire. Condition and terms of employment and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
